both of my dvd drives just stopped working and i dont know why. One of them will read the dvd's but it will constantly skip and the other drive wont read any dvd's at all...

i opened the computer and no cables are loose, i also went to device manager and uninstalled and reinstalled both drives and it still does the same thing.

Any suggestions?

I've had a problem like this do a virus scan and spyware scan most importantly go press del repeteadly on boot and see if it sees your dvd drivers.

First off like others said antivirus scan, avg has a free scanner.  Adaware se for spyware, also spybot both free.  After that try upgrading the drivers via the manufacturers website.  Also in the my computer page, you can right click and hit properties and run a trouble shoot on the drives, although usually that doesn't help much.  Let us know how things are going after the scans though.

The first step should be the virus scan, see if it picks anything up. After that, go to the BIOS and see if they show up there.
