Which will garner better results? It seems like the HDMI To DVI-D looks better, but is it just me?

They are both digital so there is really no reason they should look different unless you are running at a resolution one of the 2 doesn't support or there is a problem with the output or input.
Digital signals send either a 1 or 0 bit. As long as the device gets the signal there is going to be no difference between digital signals. Now if the cable was busted and you weren't receiving the 1s and 0s then you would get no display.
Now if you were using an analog signal where the wavelengths can get interference you would then be able to tell the difference. A cable that is better shielded would reduce interference from other signals like radio waves etc...
