Face it,its just a way to increase your e-peen,a marketing gimmick to help raise sales of software like Crysis and Vista and to a lesser extent n00b bait,i mean seriously,Dx 10 has little improvments in eye candy to justify buying a Dx 10 card, and of course you'll need high end hardware to make Dx 10 look better than Dx 9 maxed out,and we all know the mid end hardware is INCAPABLE of doing that, and of course Dx 10 is VRAM intensive as well: http://guru3d.com/article/Videocards/459/5

Even a 320MB 8800GTS won't cut it even at 12x10,if you still support Dx 10,you are a nub who doesn't accept the facts about Dx 10.

I'll be back later,added a poll.

Yeah lets keep DX9 forever.

I mean come on, it has just come out and no game has really used it yet, just added a few DX10 features. I am pretty sure that it will improve with time.

I didn't think World in Conflict used DX10. So why did you post that article?

I don't know if this is true, but isn't Microsoft bringing out DX 10.1 and the older DX 10 cards are gonna be incapable of it?

Dx 10 is fine but nothing to get excited about. It makes games look better but slows it down. I remember reading all those people that thought games would actually run FASTER in DX10 before a DX10 game came out LOLOLOL!!

We all now know that is just silly. Thats why cards like the 8600GT are stupid. A game like Bioshock barly runs fast enough on a 8600GT in DX9. If you play it in DX10 the FPS drops by 30% to where its unplayable at anything but a very small res.

In the end DX10 is just like going for med-high to max detail in a DX9 game. And you need a top card to do it regarless so big deal.

Here is the way I look at DX10. I dont care about it. Even if I had an 8800GTS I would still use XP and play games like Bioshock in DX9. The difference in the games looks is still not enough to make me use Vista. I want a 8800GTS but for its overall speed in DX9 not because it can run games in DX10.

I would rather play games in DX9 even with a good "DX10 capable" card than have to use Vista.

DX10.1 can be used on DX10 cards the only thing they can't use that DX10.1 has is shader 4.1 (not a great improvement over 4).

Yes, like a bunch of forum posters can predict the future of DX10, where there could be updates, revisions, optimizations in the future. Right? Because it makes sense to say it failed so early on in the game, right? RIGHT?

Wrong. Get back to your $700 dollar PC, Indestructible2.

LOL soo sad. You clearly don't know what you're talking about TC. The same could be said for DX9 and every other one. They offer fundamental changes and things can look better. Not insanely better but enough you can tell there's a difference. DX10 looks great where you can see what DX9 is capable of and what DX10 can do.

Forcing DX10 on vista is the marketing gimmic not dx10 itself. Also yes hardware becomes obsolete when you goto a new version since the hardware has to be able to perform what is asked of it. DX10 doesn't fail in the slightest and the more people use it the better it will make games look as devs start using more of the features.

Like always, I think we'll just have to wait. Crysis is doing a whole bunch of stuff with DX10, and I think it's going to be the title that justifies DX10 and actually gives people a reason to upgrade to DX10.

Now I definitely agree that the cards we have now are simply not good enough for DX10. I got a 320mb GTS just a month ago and I've already gotten rid of it. It's simply not good enough, and I really think we should expect to have $300 cards that are going to kick Crysis' butt, just as past $300 cards have easily handled top games. I'm waiting for the next generation of cards cause the stuff that's out there right now doesn't cut it.

LOL go read the news. Vienna is their next server OS not the consumer one. Vista for consumers Vienna business.

And yes DX10.1 will have features dx10 cards cannot do. You will still be able to use ur dx10 card but you won't be able to turn on the features they add in dx10.1

I think phan1 said it best: We have to wait and see. We can't predict the future. DX10 is gaining momentum and, if the hype turns out to be true, the wait for new cards that can unleash the plethora of new advanced options and features will be worth it. I know I can wait.

XP lasted for very long time... I just hope this will be the case with Vista also.

I don't understand why they would release a new OS so soon allready. Its like building up a userbase with a console like PS2 and stop at 20 million then bring the PS3 to the market. Long support would be nice imo.

New windows was scheduled for 2009, not 2008. And they usually postpone them, so I'd expect it around end of 2009, or maybe 2010 in the earliest.

DX10 has very much better capabilities than DX9, but so far I don't know of a game that usues ALL DX10 features and capabilities. Also DX10 drivers for video cards ares till not perfected, they are gettign a bit better just now with the latest releases, but still suck compared to the oprimized and perfected DX9 drivers.

Wait and see. DX10 is capable of better visuals than all PS3/XBOX360. It will get there.. seems liek later rather than sooner, but it will none-the-less.
