This is pointless. Why would we want Shader Model 5 when most games only use 3. Does this mean we will have to buy a new video card? I do not want Dx11 if that is the case!!biggest_loserI just bought my 4870x2... =[
Those images are amazing. We're one step closer to photo-realistic graphics.

It will take at least a full year after directx 11 and shader model 5 come out before we see games using it. Remember how long it took for Directx 10 games came out after Vista was released. That is two full years from now, an eternity for gaming PCs. Most of the top of the line video cards right now would be mid or low range and people would have upgraded their hardware by then. Game developers will not abandon directx 10 right away and people who have the best video cards now will still be able to play games that will come out then.
...well thats what in 2011...i hope it is then at least because no game yet has actually used dx10, they only some of its features ontop of dx9. I want a game built solely for dx10 and 2 years is enough time to get a game rolling on dx10s legs...but that will never happen because of consoles and windows xp not having dx10 support leaving a small consumer base for a dx10 only game. Heck dx10 is awesome and runs about a twice as good as dx9 with games, that is if the game is built up solely on dx10....but sadly no game has and only had features of dx10 added onto dx9 making a game run worse in "dx10 mode" then running in dx9 by itself. Crysis and crysis warhead are really just a showcase of what the last legs of dx9 look like. dx10 actually looks alot better and performs better. dx11 is meant to improve that and make devs develope dx11 game from the ground up solely on that api with future consoles in mind and a larger pc consumer base.
man if crysis was made only on dx10 it would run like 1.5x (25fps to 37.5fps!!!)better on dx10 complaint cards....uh what ever tho, we just get more and more graphics cards and processors shoved in our faces and see little improvement because of archaic development relying on an old consumer base. (like come on that intel core i7 is such as waste right now, it barely is better then the current processors yet to actually use a core i7 cpu it will cost you about triple the price.)
