What did you format sorry? HDD? Also, that sucks! Don't rule out some kind of power saving thing you don't know about though.cpu-z said i had 2 cores ! i formatted and now its back to 4 !! whats up with that ?

i had the cool 'n' quiet feature on ( in the bios) , bs i had two even when i was playing , offcourse after i installed it i had a clean install .. could it be becaue oe the motherboard ? its a cheap msi 770 c35 !
i'll turn off the cool 'n' quiet thingy.. and see if it stays with 4 cores
You shouldn't have to turn off cool n' quiet just for it to see all 4 cores. you apparently have received a defective CPU and you should either return it or RMA it to AMD, and I would highly suggest that you do that.i had the cool 'n' quiet feature on ( in the bios) , bs i had two even when i was playing , offcourse after i installed it i had a clean install .. could it be becaue oe the motherboard ? its a cheap msi 770 c35 !

i know ! but it works fine then stops after a couple of days
! , it happened 3 times ! so i thought maybe it has something to do with the mobo Msi 770-c35
i doubt it. any other things in the bios. intels have SW Single core, and sw dual core for quads im pretty sure. also, do a system restore, if when you restore it and it shows 4 again, it is the os or the mbaord. also, if you get a chance, try to benchmark it and compare your benchmarks to others of the same cpu.
