whats the difference between the two expect 3.16 GHz on the E8500 and the 3.0GHz on the E8400

i see a 20 dollar difference between the two on newegg but if you overclock your E8400 you can make it better then the E8500

i guess the only difference is you get that extra 1.5GHz when you OC?

I think the e8500 has a higher multiplier for OC'ing, but I'm not sure. Either way, you can't go wrong with the 8400 whatsoever.

well its only a 20$ difference so i guess not overclocking = better but if you do which 60% of people know how now and more and more are learning it gives you a 1.5GHz increase in overclocking lol.

I can attest, the difference between 3.0 and 3.16 is pretty noticeable. I for one am using the 8500 in my next build, but it's your call.

its not much of a difference if you OC the E8400 to 4.0 im guessing the 20$ difference is best when overclocking in the high range i mean i've seen E8400s hit 4.2 GHz oces and E8500s hit 4.3 but there so close...
