I think the title says it all :P

Anyway, i wanted to know which one is better, if both processors were at the same price which one would u choose and why?

Im building my first pc and i have the option to buy any of those but i've heard many people saying that the E8400 is better for gaming (im going to use the pc for gaming and things like Computer Programming)

What are the advantages/disadvantages of both chips?

Thanks.

If they're the same price, The Q9450 is better, no contest. A little overclocking and you'll be able to beat the E8500 at stock, and be ready for the future. Prices being what they are however, I'd give the edge to the E8400, or even E7200.

And that RAM is certainly "good enough" for most things, but you can almost get a 2x2GB kit of DDR2 800 RAM for that price. Good RAM for a really serious overclocker, but not for everyone.

I think the Q9450 will be the most future proof, as games start to utilise four cores (Alan Wake does, I believe)

[QUOTE="PNarSerja"]Thank u kind sir :Dct1615

Mmmm, not quite.

The E8400 is $194

The E8500 is $269

The Q9450 is $359

E8400 is probably the best bang for the buck.
