Don't get me wrong about what I'm about to say, but am I the only one who seems to have all kinds of issues with games from EA. I've purchased games from their internet site and one of them I can no longer play because some kind of issue with the game not starting up when I double click the icon. I've contacted them and they said it's my PC. So I downloaded to my sons PC and would'nt you know same B.S..

Now I just picked up a version of NFS Most Wanted and low and behold I can't even install it because of an issue with direct x. I tried there solutions and no luck. The only thing I haven't tried was going through and downloading each disc seperetly on to my desktop and then trying it that way. Is it just me or do you all believe that when you purchase a game it shouldn't involve all of this crap. I don't mind patching agame or even doing some minor tweeking but come on, for some reason it seems to happen with only EA games.

Only EA game I've bought in awhile was Crysis. I'm suprised it actually came out so flawless... Except you can tell that EA had a huge part in the storyline (ending) so that they could sell overpriced expansions.

EA-

1. Give $$$ to developers to build game.

2. Cut 1/3 content off and sell it in expansions.

3. Force release of game before it is done.

nah it was designed as a triology from the begining, EA had nothing to do with it.

this is where we all have to be thankfull for being PC gamers...what EA does on the consoles is a lot worse, they realease tons of DLC for people to buy, most likely stuff that didnt make it into the game for time reasons...this doesnt work so well on PC games seeins as how we have mods.

EA is the type of company that you learn to love while also pulling your hair out at the same time. They publish so many titles it is hard to not pick one up from them sooner or later. Keep in mind though that not all devs are created equal and some do a beter job at coding their games under time crunching then others. EA loves to put out insane deadlines for products to be released, which adds to alot of the problems because of the strategy they use to "sell now fix it later". EA has grown large and fat over the years, it was not too long ago that they were making computer games for the C64. They have come out with some wonderful titles, but as they grew they took the road to speedy buggy software releases.

Your not the only one, EA made some terrible games this year. Medal of honor, Madden, Simcity, C&C and Need for speed are all going down.

Yeah i agree. EA has been around for along time and I definantly have a time-line of them myself. Like when they were dependable. XD

I try not to pick up any EA games anymore unless it's a total want (Hellgate... which still isn't complete but I still love it.) And then there was the BF series... BF2 was fine then I got BF2142 and for almost a whole month I was getting crashed and what not. If anything wait awhile to pick up an EA game because by the time you do the game is usually complete. Don't digital DL from them.. i don't recrommend it. I have done it on Steam and haven't had any problems thus far.

Almost never had a problem with their games. You should buy the games in stores and not on EA Link because from what I hear it's a terrible system. And since you mentioned your getting a DX error its definitely your computer. You need to update you'r video drivers, or your computer is too old (none supported DX version, it doesn't even support HT&L which most integrated cards don't) to play the game.

I have never had problems with EA games, alot of these newer games really require upgraded or newer computers just to run them with decent resolution and graphics. DirectX drivers need to be kept up to date, because of the constant changes to video card demands and new graphic content being introduced on newer games. My system is only 3 years old, but I need to upgrade already just because software technology is outpacing consumer based computer hardware technology. I hate to have to spend more money on upgrades but if you want to play PC games, you need faster processors and faster memory to keep up with todays games.

On the other hand the only online FPS game i have ever had a problem with in 15 years of FPS and online gaming is ETQW, go to the forums and read up on that one before you waste $50. Unfortunately I made an impulse buy on that one and got stiffed, no refunds at Best Buy on software! I will never buy another game withoutsearching online to find everything I can read on it, big mistake. Activision customer service is non-existent, after emailing back and forth for days their best advice was "did you try to connect again?" That game has many short falls and problems, read all the reviews and issues before you waste your money.

Am I the only one who doesn't hate EA with a passion? I mean, I can't say I like them, but their existance in the gaming scene doesn't really effect me one way or another. The past three games I playedthat EA published, I loved. I haven't had any issues with their games not working either. I dunno, maybe I haven't had the negative experiences that you guys have had, but I still can't help but think there's a vast number of people out their who hate EA just because so many other people do too.

My pc isn't that old and I update my drivers pretty often. Everything was up to date when I tried to download the game. I went to EA's support site and there was 1472 other gamers with the same issue. I did do what aandrew610 said and it did work, but like I said earlier, I shouldn't have to go through that when I purchase a game.

EA isn't evil, they are just a greedy corporation. They just try to maximize profits without caring all that much for the customer.

Would gaming be better without EA? Probably, but thats not to say another gaming publisher wouldn't take EA's place as top greedy corporation. Company's like EA are far from an oddity in America unfortunately, so its just one of those things you gotta live with.

I guess your that one guy. No dude, a lot of people hate EA because they make crap games and buy other companies. This year, EA made lot of crap/medicore games, like Need for speed:pro street, Medal of Honor:Airborne, Simcity:socities, etc. Most EA games tend to be average/bad, do some research and you will see.

speaking from personal experience a bit, most people just like to be uninformed and jump the gun when it comes to companies like that. sort of like sheep. the really ironic bits kick in when you read mags like game developer.. in their annual publisher survey, EA was something like #3 in average game review scores for their entire 2006-2007 library out of all publishers. they were pretty squarely in the middle of the pack when it came to how many of their games were new IPs as opposed to sequels, though. i forget who was ahead of them in overall review scores, i think square and lucasarts or something? but yeah, i wouldn't touch their online store with a ten-foot pole right now. it'll probably get better eventually, just like steam did, but right now the only thing i've gotten from there was the BF2142 booster because there was literally no other way. they release some pretty mediocre stuff, but some decent to great stuff along with it. and a chunk of the 'evil' attributed to them just plain hasn't been done in years, if it ever was.

If you mean games for windows...that makes no sense at all the label has nothing to do with the quality of the game. All games for windows means is

1)Quality. Games for Windows branded titles undergo extensive testing, and not just by the publisher. Microsoft also invests in quality checking each title to ensure they meet performance and reliability standards.

2)Compatibility. Games for Windows branded titles work on Windows XP and Windows Vista based PCs, including both 32 and 64 bit editions. Games for Windows titles that support controllers are also compatible with the Microsoft XBOX 360 controller for Windows, including the XBOX 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows. They even support widescreen resolutions and more.

3)Safety features. You can be confident that any title carrying the Games for Windows brand will support the new parental controls and family settings features in Windows Vista.

4)Easy to Play. Games for Windows branded titles are easy to install, find and remove, especially in Windows Vista. Every Games for Windows title appears in the new Windows Vista Games Explorer (no more hunting around the start menu for that game you just installed). And Games for Windows branded titles all offer some form of "easy install", putting you in the game more quickly.

Yo. Another sane person here. I don't really pay attention to what publisher is on my game unless it's particularly good or particularly bad. To tell you the truth, I couldn't tell you who published any of the games I bought since October. That would make them all mediocre, I guess. Then again, I haven't gotten to all of them yet. It's silly to say "all EA games are crap" though. So who publishes the good games then, huh? Ubisoft? Is there even another major publisher? I dunno. It's dumb to be all up in arms about EA though. If they were really screwing EVERYTHING up, I think I would have noticed by now. Edit: It looks like I bought Orange Box and Command and Conquer, both of which I think are good. ...and yeah, I've bought Activision and 2k games and some others. I didn't really notice them being any better or anything.

Okay, I thought the OP was just roundly dumping on ANYTHING EA even touches. Yeah, I have to agree. EA as a DEVELOPER is absolute crap. I don't think I buy anything they develop, except maybe sports games, which I haven't been playing nearly as much of lately. 2k developed a good Madden alternative for a while there, and we all know what EA did to that. Still, as a publisher, I've got no problem with them. Their download service may suck. I don't know. I don't do the downloads anyway, unless its an old, out of print game. They have marketed some pretty good games this holiday season though.

If that was it was so post to mean then I know to stay away from it. What did Hell Gate London past any of those? If anything, you are just a EA or M$ hidden public reaction team. If even type like them. You type very neatly and professional but give out false information. :P

EDIT: Maybe I'm wrong, but isn't the logo just an advertisement M$ pays to put on? It's a very big and blah that seems totell NONE of the things you listed. Just tell people about their Windows Vista service for games.
