Here is the story, I was downstairs while my dad was upstairs doing the only thing he knows how to do on a PC, Playing some RA2:YR. Then out of no where I hear a loud cracking sound ad my dad says, "My game froze........" I go upstairs and open my CD drive to find what is in the pics.

Mythbusters did a thing on this and said that a CD drive couldn't't break a CD, FALSE

I know for a fact, well maybe not a fact(does any one have links to those guys that break computer hardware and say "that is so extreme" in there weird accents. its on google video) but I have seen overclocked Disc drives that explode so I have no reason to beleave a disc couldnt explode by itself.

Yes it is a fact that a CD can and will explode in a drive. I happened to see the episode of mythbusters and I emailed them about it. They were wrong its not just the speed of the rotations or RPM's. It also has to do with the CD balancing on the spindle. Inside a drive if that CD is off by just a fraction then you were hear a very loud noise and bang.

did you get a response when you emailed them?  that's the thing i don't like about that show, there are way to many variables that they never factor in.  so for them to say that something couldn't happen is just plain stupid.

A little off topic but they also said you can't tip a cow, and I know a friend who has gone cow tipping. (even if it is for rednecks)

i saw that episode, i think i remember them saying they couldnt even get the drive to write at full speed (52X). so i dunno how they could even fully test it.

Yeah Mythbusters is wrong on several myths, simply because they didnt try all the conditions, or somthing liek that.  For instance, if the CD was made out of a different material than what a "standard CD" uses that they might of tested, it probibly can break.

Usually they might mention somthing like this (Such as on the myth where they blow out a candle using only sound waves, they proved its possible, not really possible using only a human voice so it was "busted" offically, but technically feasable).
