there are external enclosures for hard drives.. there not cheap (like 30- 50 bucks) but they come with adapter cards for normally missing slots such as e-sata or firewire.

9/10 these enclosures use e-sata, usb 2.0/3.0 and/or firewire.

i have one with a 500gb HDD in it for school it set me back 85 bucks canadian for the drive and the enclosure.. it came with the adapter and i got a free 2gb usb stick with it :D

http://www.linkecomputer.com/products/1000940/12CF1-3SATPW-12R%20/Gigabyte/

This came with my motherboard. I couldn't find another vendor but I am not sure whether this site is reputable.
