Ever since they were taken over by Gamestop, I thought they didn't take PC games.

You do know that more companies are updating their games constantly and each time a game updates, you have to find a new crack. It's pointless now to download or burn PC games. It's a pain plus it doesn't have the same quality as owning. I own a lot of PC games and it looks damn impressive in my bureau.

This is news to me. I couldn't return a game when it refused to play on anything but North American machines.

Gamestop / EB Games have changed their return policies in recent history so you can't return any PC games unless they are defective.

No. Cracks are usually made within a day from game updates

That seems like an awful lot of trouble. And heaps of people do it, you say?

Well. I figured most illegitimate customers would just:

1. Pirate game from internet

2. Play

If you had opened your mind just a little bit you would have realized it's just not physically possible for a company to take back PC games and maintain a good reputation. This would create massive headaches when people can't play multiplayer because their cd key has already been used. It won't happen now...or ever as long as CD keys are in effect.

What? I also have me a very nice large collection of games on display on shelves in my room. I don't see the problem here.

Yup, owning the game and getting the art is nice, just like with a CD or movie.

yea, that seems pretty stupid when you can just download the game from the internet, then install it, then play. i own almost all my games, the few exceptions being when a friend buys a game that doesn't require the disk to play (stalker, company of heroes) then i'll install it and give the disk back. i'll very rarely pirate a game, if i don't think the developer deserves the money, and i'm just curious about the game (ex. brothers in arms; earned in blood, or the fear expansion packs). other than that, i own all my games. and yea, i love having an immpressive box collection.

You may find this interesting...

At my local EB games I bought Turok, which I then returned for Universe at War which I then returned for The Witcher which I then returned for the Supreme Commander Gold Edition. I may or may not still have these games installed on my PC but I can assure that I could have kept returning games with no questions asked.

Huh? Guess this must be somewhere other than Canada as we can trade is PC games but not able to return them if they are opened. All 4 stores in my area only allow trade in or will replace the game with the exact same copy if defective/scratched (Depending if you purchased the 1 year warranty)

And don't say trading in games is helping piracy either, as the developer/publisher has already made the money on that copy of the game. The only bad thing that occurs from trade ins is the fact that a person who is going to purchase the game may purchase the used copy. This entails no sale for the developer/publisher, but that is a completely different issue other then piracy.

EB/Gamestop don't take back anything except used games, which you could take advantage of the 7-day thing. Not on PC games though. You'd have to play it for 7 days then return it saying you don't like it to get a new game, essentially a free rental. It wouldn't work with new games or PC games. And it doesn't really matter because piracy is easier to do over the internet anyway for PC games.

When Gamestop first came to my local area (maybe 5 years ago or so), they did have a 7 day return policy (or was it 14?) on any game, PC or console. For that reason alone, they became my new game store over EB, I hate the common return policy for PC games. About a year or so later, they shut down that policy, going to the same old "if it's open, you can only exchange it" policy every other store has always had. If you have a local EB Games or Gamestop taking game returns for new games, you have a local EB Games or Gamestop manager who is likely to get his butt canned the next time the district manager comes around.

So funny. This reminds me of an Arrested Development episode I was watching recently. They were working at the frozen banana stand and stealing from the register. Each time they would take a dollar from the register they would throw out a banana so "the books will balance". You have about as good a grasp of ecomonics as they do.

personally, i love buying the games. sure it may cost $30-$50 for a new game, depending on what game it is, but i'd rather buy than illegally download or copy.

i want the original disc with disc art. i want the manual. i want the box; especially the box. i want everything it's supposed to come with!

i keep all my game boxes and everything that came with each are still inside the box. it's the way i like it... the way i prefer it. i keep them all in dvd cabinets. the ones without doors. kinda like a book shelf. it displays all the games i have.

Hmm? The retailer has already purchased the game from the distributor. The only issue of being able to purchase traded in games is that the retailer didn't purchase as many new copies to put on the shelf as they have the used copy there to sell.

That's cool and all if you have the space. But not everyone has huge empty shelves to store their PC games on :P. I know I don't. I mostly crack my games and then store them downstairs.
