I have an eee pc 901 and I was wondering what people are playing on their similar machines, like on an airplane ride or something. I've seen the wiki list with the games that CAN run on eee pc but I want to find some games that work well for the whole package--keeping in mind limitations like the touchpad which is not conducive to fps or the widescreen or the small hdd. Basically, what are some eee-optimized games?

Also, it should be considered that in most cases, eee PCs don't have CD/DVD drives. With that in mind...I'd probably say pretty much anything in the Blizzard lineup:

  • Diablo Battlechest
  • Warcraft 2 Battle.net Edition
  • Warcraft 3 Battlechest
  • Starcraft Battlechest

Outside of those, you could probably get Dungeon Siege 1, Rise of Nations Gold. and possibly Homeworld 1 or 2 going. Oh, and let's not forget some truly amazing old-school RPGs:

  • Baldur's Gate
  • Baldur's Gate 2 with the expansion
  • Icewind Dale
  • Icewind Dale 2
  • Planescape: Torment

And lest I forget: Peggle, Worms: Armageddon, World of Goo

Rome Total War

The old Civilizations

American McGees Alice is a nice one

It actually has pretty decent integrated graphics card for its size. The processor is what usually gives me trouble.

thanks for the tip srb, does the program in that video work for 901s?

@ein: im having a blast with ds1 and worms is definitely a good idea. i tried world of goo but sometimes you need to do things a little too quickly for the touchpad. all the old RPGs you mentioned are amazing, and I just found a site called good old games (GOG.com) that has them for super cheap and downloadable, so the lack of a cd drive isnt an issue. im suddenly really excited for my next boring airplane ride!

The program will but the settings probably wont. Go to http://forum.eeeuser.com/ to find a post with the correct settings for eeectl and you should be able to safely get some extra juice out of your processor to game properly.
