who here remembers the 80's hit elite on the amiga? who here wants a SEQUEL!

well today mr braben over at frontier developements wants to blaze a enw trail across the last frontier like a star sheriff gone mad.

this doesnt mean one is coming but that its always getting tabled and suggested and that it continues to be a viable option.. lets face it no game has captured the magic of something as trivial as a docking sequence since then

Let's be honest here, that seems to be Brabens "default" answer whenever some one asks him about Elite 4. I too am a gamer that grew up with Elite first on the Speccy 48k, then C64, Amiga 500 and finally the PC. I would love nothing more than an annoucement about Elite 4 itwould eclipse everything else.

But realistically I don't think we will ever see one, for some reason Braben keeps stalling, keeps making excuses and keeps being incredibly vague. I honestly do not think he is all that bothered about doing a new Elite but he doesn't want to annoy his fan base by saying that.

i played elite on the BBC Micro myself. very cool game. mind you i was very young at the time and, despite the helpful elite instructions on the top of the keyboard, i didnt have the foggiest idea what i was doing :P.

a new one would be kewl but elite 4 has be talked about for god knows how long. so im not getting hyped until i see something more solid.

If there was to be an elite 4, you can pretty much guarentee it would be on current consoles too and if that is the case then you can pretty much guarantee also that it will be noobed up to high heaven. I wont be holding my breath for anything like the originals gameplay thats for sure.

I played Elite on the C64 and could never dock my ship without either causing damage or being destroyed outright. Not to say I didn't like the game, and would welcome a new one.
