I prefer Empire Total War, but that is not really fair becuase i havent play DoWII and i have played the total war series since rome. I did love Company of heroes and i have heard that is similar to DoWII. But i think that Empire gives more replay value and when the multiplayer campaign comes out it will have a better multiplayer.

Both. But Empire is completely unmissable. I can't play it right now as I have work to do but it is making me **** myself with every turn. Get Empire now, Dow2 later if you still want it.

Ya I am debating this myself. I just got a nice bonus unexpectedly (pretty much the exact cost of a game, actually) and I am debating between the two.

I will likely go with Total War as I need something with a lot of longevity and I dont play strategy games online. I heard DoWII's campaign is good, but how long is it?

Also, out of curiosity, how many factions are there in Total War?

About 12 for now. No doubt there will be expansions by the time I finnish with all of them and the independance campaign. I don't play RTS online, either. I like to stop the game and have a good old think, it's a hell of a lot more satisfying to pull off a well worked plan then rush in with a set routine.

It seems as if your confused bud between the choices. I would recommend reading/viewing reviews for both DoW 2 and Empire Total War, granted, both are phenomenal RTS.

Empire : Total War can't be missed. Slightly ahead of Dow2.

If you want a quick and cheerful online RTS the DoW2 is your ticket. Empire works well on both MP and SP, as does DoW2, but they are different types of strategy and that affects how you play multiplayer. DoW2 is made more for MP. Really though, RTS is all about the SP and that's where Empire wins over DoW2, the campaign is hella epic.

Haven't played Empire, Dawn of War II is awesome. Though, I suspect I'll enjoy Empire a good deal more. I hate the skirmish in Dawn of War II but love the campaign, and I'm very confident that I'll enjoy E:TW more in terms of the campaign and custom battles.

I just purchased DOWII this morning...I am not a big RTS guy though the RPG and campaign/lore drew me in. I was however debating this very thing. Personally for me it came down to setting. I really liked Medieval Total War but honestly not so interested in the time period empires is set in. Sure it's an amazing game though, and will most likely end up getting it at some point.

Well this is kind of hard. They are both so good and I can't really decide but I would go with total war, because the campaign will take time... You'll enjoy it.

Empire Total War if you want moderately slow-paced combat on a gigantic scale.

Dawn of War II if you want fast-paced combat and quick micro-management style gameplay.

Empire is based on history.

Dawn of War is its own fantasy universe.

It depends on what you prefer. Do you prefer long and complex games that have youlosing brain cells or do you prefer fast paced action packed games that's fun to play. There should be a demo for both games.

only have 4 factionthinksilly
Starcraft has 3 factions, and is one of the most popular RTS games ever. It's quality over quantity.

Back on topic, I've yet to play Empire: Total War (it was dispatched today) but Dawn of War 2's campaign is pretty amazing. It's skirmish is less amazing, but is still fun.

Empire: It has 12 factions and will have 50 when people mod the other factions in. Let's not forget the grand campaign absolutely kills any other singleplayer rts at the moment (the scale is massive).

Dawn of War 2 really surprised me with its campaign. I was expecting this game to be mostly online stuff, but boy is the campaign alot of fun!

Overall so far i have given Dawn Of War 2 a 9/10. It feels like a rts/rpg/action game, which has really had me addicted to teh gameplay. MUCH better then expected!

I am downloading Empire; Total War right now! Cant wait to try it later on today once its done! Played it for a few horus at my mates place yesterday and it was alot of fun aswell! Looks like Empire could be a 9 or 9.5/10 aswell!

Awesome

Lol i was in the same boat. i didn't know DOW or ETW. But instead of choosing one, i got accidently back in warcraft 3 and I can't even get myself to play the E:TW demo, wc3 is just too much addiction. Lol I couldn't play Rome TW also because I was playing wc3 back then. :p

Anyway played DOW2 Beta like 5 games, I don't think it's any good, but only played 5 games that is....

Should try the singleplayer campaign mate, its alot more fun to me personally then the online beta was.
