It really depends on whether you're a space guy or a fantasy guy. E:TW still is a little bit buggy, but SoaSE multiplayer matches can take well over 6 hours to complete.
neither have a particulary good mp. Empire is limited to simple battle bethween 2-4 persons, until they release the campaign mp mode and this might take a while since they need to fix the core game first. And like Shak said, Sin mp battle are extremely long, from 2 hours to 6 hours and 90% of the time, you or your ennemy will drop before the end.
sometimes demoes doesnt help at all...and they take time to download,install,then uninstall after playing through it...i think he would rather get opinions here than to go through the hassle of downloading both demoes...anyways,both are great games i would get both if i were you...
But if you really have to choose (which you shouldn't), I'd recommend SoaSE slightly more than I would E:TW. You should definitely get E:TW eventually, but wait a couple months for it to be properly patched up.
