I've bought it and I have to say yeah it easily warrants a purchase. For $10 you add an entire new aspect to the game as well as improving on some of the original areas. This "micro expansion" adds more to the game then a lot of full priced expansion packs that have come out in recent years. Only downside is it's download only, but I've never had any problems with Impulse so it was no big deal to me.

The game is really good. Entrenchment is innovative with Star Bases and new units.

Hopefully in the next microexpansion it would concentrate on starfighters and starbombers. Like different types of starfighters and bombers like in Freespace 2.

Sins is one of the greatest RTS games of all time. That's how highly I think of it. And Entrenchment makes it even better. I went ahead and purchased it, and for the first few hours of gameplay I didn't really notice much difference. But then I discovered starbases. And mines. and the need for torpedo cruisers. And the defensive improvements. And even though the list of actual changes isn't really THAT long, it changes almost everything about the game. Starbases are totally formidable obstacles that you have to do something about. Mines are a real worry, most defenses are relevant, and you're now permitted to freely move fleets around without worrying about that frontier base near the rear of your Empire that you forgot had access to an enemy planet. Those annoying scout ships that used to make their way around your empire a little too easily now cannot get more than a few jumps in, as the presence of a starbase will severely damage that scout. It's just a great expansion. I have no doubt that I'll be picking up the next two, whenever they might be released. And for the record, the next two will focus on Diplomacy and Offense. At least that's the word.

Can someone explain to me how getting the mini expansion works with impulse? My main concern is for your $10 is it a one time only download? Or once you've paid once can u download it any number of times in the future, say whenever u need to format your comp for example?

You buy it through Stardocks Impulse service, once purchased it stays on your game list forever. I've reinstalled and redownloaded the original Sins six times, no limit at all.

You can download it as many times as you want. You'll get an purchase confirmation from Stardock that will give important info proving you bought a copy. I'd recommend printing that out and keep it in a safe place just in case.

As far as the micro-expansion goes, I bought it. I found it to add an interesting aspect to the game with the Starbases. It also adds features to other defensive things like the gauss weapon playforms. There are a couple new additions to it making them more useful. For ten bucks, it adds a decent amount of content, I think. Not as much as a full expansion, but that's why Entrenchment is only ten instead of thirty. :P

No one has time to play 6 hours games...sure you could save and continue it but GL finding the same people at the exact same time to play with again (if you only know them online), the game is made for singleplayer.

I was continuing your last statement of "the game is made for singleplayer".

So, here's the full thought: "The game is made for singleplayer or LAN." That better?
