I've just installed Call of Duty 4 on my PC. But when I try to run the game, this message pops up.
----- Initializing Renderer ----

Getting Direct3D 9 interface...

Video card or driver doesn't support separate alpha blend, glow will be disabled.
Error during initialization:

Now, I'm no expert with computers, and if this doesn't sound right, just ignore it, but my guess is I need a new video card. Also, I think my processor isn't right for the game, it's
Intel(R)
Pentium(R) 4 CPU 1.60GHz
1.59 GHz, 1.00 GB of RAM
Any suggestions on what I need to do in order to run the game, or any hardware improvements that I possibly need to make?
ThanksFrost47
ur hardware isnt quite supported. time for upgrade.
Upgrade meaning new pc and all, or just new video card and processor?
It just seems strange that i can't run this game, I could run World of Warcraft TBC on full quality with my old video card, so it seems like i wouldn't need a whole new computer.

if your current cpu is a LGA775, then u can just update the CPU and if ur mobo has PCI-E then just update the GPU too.
if ur CPU isnt LGA775 and you dont have PCI-E....then yes..new pc pretty much: cpu, mobo, gpu. Use ur old ram if its ddr2. if not; new ram too.
I mean thats just a guess from what uve posted. you havent really listed what ur hardware is other then your cpu clock speeds

Well the specs that he's posted tells us he has a skt 478 board, DDR RAM and and either an AGP slot or just PCI slots.....so he'll need a whole new PC really.
Alright, there's no way I'll be able to get a whole new PC. Just a new video card for sure, and maybe a new processor.

if you dont have pci-e, then ur limited to what cards you can pick from.

Well you're gonna have trouble finding a decent skt 478 CPU, and if you do, it'll be a waste on an old system. You could get a new video card providing you have an AGP slot, find out by downloading CPU-Z. Even with a newer video card like a 7600gs, the performance will probably be pretty bad even at lowest settings.
What is you budget? you can put together a half decent machine for pretty cheap these days.
Budget...
That's unfortunately up to my parents.
I'm trying to talk them into a new computer, most likely a mac.

for gaming?
Not completely for gaming but I use the computer the most.
I only pick up a PC game if it really appeals to me, so far that's only been WoW and CoD4, my PC could run WoW full quality no problem.
I'm a pretty casual gamer, I'll typically play video games for 1-2 hours a day.
Haha alright.
Any idea on how much a PC that I could run about any game on would cost?
Frost47
for your needs, 800 bucks and less is pretty average.
