Hi, i want to play battlefield 2 singleplayer and multiplayer... but i dont know if my ethernet connection is good enough. I live out in the country where there are no cables so i am getting an ethernet connection. My Local Area Ethernet connection says 100mbps... i was sure it is far from that so i tried to download a BF2 demo and it downloaded at around 30-35kbps. Is my connection good enough to play Battlefield 2 multiplayer?

Okay either you have some huge misunderstanding or i'm just retarded today. 30-35 mbps is amazingly fast, it would mean that you downloaded the bf2 demo in about 8 seconds!!! just so you know if you didn't already mbps means mega bytes per second.

if you have 30-35 mbps then i worship you, and the answer to your question is YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS but i think that you are mistaking mbps with kbps(killa bytes per second), and 30-35 kbps is very slow. i have about 100kbps, and i can play games just fine without a problem. call back your internet guy and make sure you didn't get it confused.

i would appreciate if you responded, so i would know what happened here. and if i have issues.

Depends on what context it is used it in and how it is actually displayed.

Mbps = Megabits per second

MBps = Megabytes per second

Big difference when talking about speed.

All internet connections and routers are referring to Mbps. A full 100Mbps connection is returning you 12.5MB every second.

thank you CarnivaleClown, i thought the two were one and the same. Meyer1100, you may have been right in the number, the connection between your computer and the router, which can be very fast, and if you have vista i know exatly where you were saw the number. i'm sure their are easier ways but to test your internet speed but i would just download some thing from gamespot.com, through the manager,and it will show you the speed.

-hope i helped you

Capitalization is very important when talking in terms of data sizes.

Mbps = Mega bits per second

MBps = Mega bytes per second

One Mb is 1/8 the size of one MB. Mb is almost always used as the measurement when talking about network speed. 30 Mbps is an awesome speed for your internet connection.

EDIT: CarnivaleClown beat me to it there. ;)

You can get an idea at http://www.speedtest.net/

I recommend doing it 3 times with the 3 closest servers to you.
