I remember some kind of protests also happened in Runescape... Just saying. Miroku32People are calling this update the new NGE.
Nice, the most players in a place since Cataclysm (over 2K players in Orgrimmar), but apparently they're not allowing more than 1600 players, some must leave for other to enter.
I already told my members if I find a single member in my corp protesting in any of the trade hubs, I'm removing them from the corp. The protest is stupid and based entirely on a slippery slope argument and the other half is stuff that will be fixed with time......since we have been receiving expansion in smaller chunks since the last one.
In that case I'd protest just to go against some power tripping boss type mentality. Not everyone shares your views nor should they have to. Why is it the people who should never obtain power are always the one's to come into it? I want to protest that.
oh, madcat.. this is our out of game protest https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?hl=en_US&hl=en_US&key=0AtUHbyNk0JSGdHR1TDhrRVhhQTUzLUMyVTNZdjJUaHc&output=html . More than 2500 accounts unsubbed in less than 2 dayshutrtzIf they actually lost that many accounts than good, that's how you get a point across in the business world. Shooting monuments in Jita, not so much.

Can anyone please give a brief summary of what is being protested?

Essentially microtransactions and an internal memo titles "Greed is Good?" which went into the ideas of having the game driven more around CCP's store rather then the in-game player economy. Can anyone please give a brief summary of what is being protested?

- Expansion released.
- What players wanted ignored.
- Microtransactions for like $20 in-game t-shirts that no one else can even see...
- Nerd rage up and down the street.
I wish all the best to the protestors. Opening a cash shop when you have a competitive, high-stakes MMORPG like Eve shows a very poor appreciation for your die hard players. Cash shops may be ok for some theme park MMORPGs, but not ones where competition between other players and guilds is the focus, resources matter greatly, and you stand to lose or gain a lot in PvP.

They're adding cosmetic items to go along with the whole "walking on your ship thing" that are more useless than the mounts that Blizzard sells. This really breaks the gameplay *gasp*

This really breaks the gameplay *gasp* They are considering adding microtransactions that will affect gameplay such as paying money for ships, ammo, faction standings etc. All of this will ruin the economy which is mostly run by the community. Also it is crazy that they charge so much for cosmetic items that other players can't even see.
[QUOTE="Miroku32"]I remember some kind of protests also happened in Runescape... Just saying. JangoWuzHerePeople are calling this update the new NGE. hehe its nothing like that, its just a change (a major one, of course) in terms of the Docking experience. The major gameplay elements are perfectly the same. But I can understand the outcry from some quarters, since many don't have the hardware to run the Walking-in-Station. I bet the biggest gripe is really the microtransactions for your avatar's apparel. I mean, really, 70 RL bucks for a monocle? Insane. CCP is getting a little too greedy for its own good. Very disappointed that its going down this root and I'm a major Eve supporter ever since beta. But yeah, its nothing like the NGE at all. Thats a pretty dramatic comparison and its nothing close to that...
once again PC gamers are getting all uppity about nothing and overreacting.
"Greed is Good?"...two things:
1. There is a question mark there. That makes the memo's title more of a subject for discussion, not so much a statement. Lets take two breaths and realise that...
2. ...maybe it really was meant as a memo to discuss certain things, not to put them in place.
Some of the players' have valid arguments (WiS specifically), but outside of that there is nothing here that requires such an ugly and horrendous response. Make your complaints through the proper and respectable channels; write letters, makephone calls and, if necessary, unsubscribe.
But above all else, take the high road. Why on earth would you flood a system and attack monuments? That is just silly and will prove pointless.
[QUOTE="JangoWuzHere"] "What concerns the player base is that the memo said that CCP were considering selling in-game benefits (such as faction standings and ammunition) for AUR. The EVE Online forums are full of people asking for a promise from CCP that in-game benefits will not be sold for real life money. So far, that question is being ignored" Doesn't sound good to me. rollermintOk now thats worrying indeed...
hyperbole
has anyone actually read said-memo? "Considering" can mean a lot of things, but one thing it does not mean is "definite" or even "likely"

The fact that they even considered such a thing should be insulting enough.[QUOTE="mrbojangles25"][QUOTE="rollermint"] Ok now thats worrying indeed...JangoWuzHere

The fact that they even considered such a thing should be insulting enough. I agree. Even more when they promised before that MT for items would never happen. I was thinking of playing the game again but with all the horrible things added, their leaked e-mail, lack of information, MT and so on im not that interested. Please Log In to post.
