I have never played this game before but I just see on steam that you get the game and expansion packs for £1.99. Is it worth me getting it?

From what I've heard, it's around the same numbers as EQ2, which I believe is around 200k.. it looks like a steady and devoted community at the moment. I was thinking of coming back. I've never played an MMO quite like Everquest. How is the online community for Everquest these days anyways?

Oh man, EverQuest was my true path into PC gaming... I'm not sure how it'll affect people that have been gaming for some time, especially with how old the game is, but it was certainly a decent game back when I played it. $2.50 is definitely worth giving it a try, I'd say.
I played EQ for like 4 years originally when it was in its prime. Eventually moved on to other games. I tried going back to it once but even though I had a 60th character at the time everyone was at max level with raid gear and doing raid content. I was like the albatross lurking around with nothing to do and nobody to group with.
I think starting from level 1 would probably not be fun. There won't be any other newbs to group with and most of the original game world isn't used at all.
15 expansions? And people call Blizzard greedy!Renevent42
15 exapnsions over 11 years, and giving every single one away when you buy the newest is being greedy? im sorry but not giving you previous expansions and keeping your prices high is being greedy.

They are releasing them at a far faster pace...I looked at the wiki and some of them are released the very same year. And I'm not so much saying they are greedy...I just find it funny how people call Blizzard greedy when these guys are releasing multiple expansion sometimes even in the same year. You said it yourself...15 over 11 years...that's crazy.[QUOTE="warmaster670"][QUOTE="Renevent42"]15 expansions? And people call Blizzard greedy!Renevent42

I don't think so...I'm pretty sure they were at least $20 on release. All in all content to content it all adds up costing about the same...especially if you were one who purchased them at release. How is the online community for Everquest these days anyways?

There is a good core of devoted players, however they are all high levels, meaning if you want to level up from scratch you find some dedicated friends, find someone to powerlevel you, or solo till 50+. Fun?
[QUOTE="gebus420"]hahahdam, i was high when i bought this and didnt notice it was everquest 1 and not the second..

Classic. :) That's funny.
I used to play EQ1 in 2002, 2003. It was pretty fun back then, but like others have said, there are better MMOs available now. The initial bargain of the game plus the expansions is a good deal, but if you're going to pay a montly fee, I think you'll be better off playing a newer game.
