This is the first time that my computer has caught something in a long long time... or I just now found out about it. How do I get every process running, to show up on a list? AVG already removed two back doors and I would like to know if something is loading up when WoW loads up. The recent cursor glitch is on my mind right now... thank you M$.....Its not that hard. CTRL+ALT+DEL and go to the processes tab. That won't cover rootkits though so you'll need a rootkit reveiler (I understand theres one called IceSword or some such that has yet to be compromised..don't get BlackLight for that very reason).

I already know about Ctrl+alt+del... I'm quite used to it due to glitched out Setpoint software that needs restarting. I think there is a command line used in Linux that shows all processes currently running... anything like this for Windows XP?Download Avast or some other free anti-virus software, run a scan and keep it up to date.
that process thing from Microsoft is almost exactly what I wanted... I did a google search on lass.exe... turns out it is yet ANOTHER virus!
If only I could get my hands on the B**** that made this...HostileEffect
I use Registry Mechanic, it basically keeps your registry tight so that only installed programs and Windows files will run. I had a Trojan an even though it was deleted through AVG, RM deleted the value from my registry.Boba_Fett_3710Could I get a link to that and how easy is it to use? My mother is pretty belligerant when it comes to using anything other than a basic firewall so any easy to use security software would be good to have.
It's alright man, everyone makes mistakes, don't beat yourself up.
As for a firewall I use ZoneAlarm free edition (:P ninja'd), although I think there are better alternatives.
It's a shame that MS bought out sysinternals, but there are some very useful utilities there concerning process management and rootkits, check 'em out.
In fact all the stuff Mark wrote was genius.
Yeah, definitely use Firefox 2 with noscript and adblock, best combination ever, it's so satisfying to see the ads just dissappear. I'm not a big fan of adblock plus, as the icon is as annoying as an ad itself, but look for the straight up adblock with no picture next to the description, now that's a quality extension.
I'm starting to feel like everyone is being condecending to me...Well we really don't know how much you actually know (especially considering your degrading comments towards yourself). Regarding Astaro I performed a brief Google search and what I've initially found in discussion elsewhere is that it is good but more geared towards businesses than home use and also a little bit confusing.
I switched to Firefox a long time ago and I don't think I ever looked back. I use spywareblaster, Ad-aware SE personal, Spybot S&D, AVG anti-virus and Sygate firewall.
Is Astaro any good as a firewall?HostileEffect
Ic... Links would be nice... :P Some might think that my methods are overkill.... well... everyone seems to say that...

ZoneAlarm 7.0
P.S. PM me sometime what add-ons you are using..I've found some darn useful ones that haven't been downloaded that much.

It's got to be one of the simplest programs for such an important task.Â
