I'm wanting to purchase the parts for my computer in the next 7-10 days but just found out that the eVGA 8800 gts 512 card I selected is now out of stock. Such is the case elsewhere too. Since there is a $30 MIR that ends 4/30, I'd like to get his squared away asap. Because I'm not purchasing this moment I can wait a bit to see if it comes in but... there are some other 8800 gts 512 and most of the differences are just the product numbers!

Newegg.com

XFX PVT88GYDD4 $250 (no MIR)

XFX PVT88GYDF4 $310 (after $20MIR)

eVGA 512-P3-N845-AR $220 (after $20MIR)

eVGA 512-P3-M841-AR $230 (after $30MIR) This is the one that is sold out

Gigabyte GV-NX88S512H-B $280 (after $20MIR) - just through this in because I'm getting the Gigabyte MoBo

At first glance, there doesn't seem to be much difference other than the core clock being a bit faster on the two eVGA cards and the top XFX. Obviously some are newer models based on the letters/numbers but there is quite a bit of difference in prices. Should I hang out and wait for the eVGA...841 or look into one of the others?

Actually I hadn't looked at too many other options. Somewhere I got a list that helped newbies narrow down the better choices for parts and XFX, eVGA and possibly BFG (in that order) were listed. I've heard both XFX and eVGA have good stepup programs and that eVGA had great customer service.

BFG and eVGA have step-up programs, and lifetime warranties.

XFX has double lifetime warranties.

They all have pretty good support, and require you to register within 30 days of purchase or you only get a 1 year warranty.

Wanna hear something weird? Newegg has completely removed that n841 card! The only eVGA 8800 GTS 512mb left is the KO. Is that sort of thing usual???

EVGA cheated me out of the the rebate, so I suggest you go with a different company.

Whoever you sell it to, or give it to, will be covered under a lifetime warranty if they register it with XFX.

It helps when you put your old card on Ebay or wherever, to be able to sell it with a lifetime warranty.
