$182 for a 9800gtx+? You can get a HD4870 with that kind of money.
Yeah I would definitely get a HD4830. It's only $100 but has comparable performance to a 9800GT, which is $125.
SAPPHIRE 100265L Radeon HD 4830 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card
What's a better gpu to get from those 2 ( or if there's something in it's price range that's better) to match a rig with Q6600 and a 750i Motherboard.RedxSniper
Without actually owning the 4830 and being able to compare them on my computer, the info I come across on these two cards (HD 4830 and 8800GTS 512MB) it seems that the 8800GTS would be slightly better.
That's only going off of numbers and not actual performance of the two cards.
You can find the 8800GTS (same one I have) here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B0010XBP6Y/ref=dp_olp_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1231966370&sr=1-4 Both listed are used, but I'd venture to guess that you'd have a heck of a time coming across a new one of this card due to the fact they aren't produced anymore and haven't been for a while. Only new ones I came across from a quick check are way over priced $200+....
You can find the HD 4830 here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B001JVNRY0/sr=1-3/qid=1231966522/ref=olp_tab_new?ie=UTF8&coliid=&me=&qid=1231966522&sr=1-3&seller=&colid=&condition=new
It seems that those two cards are roughly priced the same.
The 9800GTX and GTX+ are a bit better then the 8800GTS 512MB card....they'll cost anywhere from $140-$200, depending on where you find them at.
Here's a little step chart to better explain:
8800GT = 9800GT < 8800GTS 512MB < 9800GTX < 9800GTX+
I don't do ATI, so I couldn't tell you much more then I already have about the HD 4830.

I don't know... if newegg is where you are planning to buy, then... I guess the 4830? Being that there is almost no selection of 8800's at newegg, and the GTS version all are those odd ball ram sized version of 320megs. Although at 80 bucks... I'd probably get that EGA 8800, Although... the return policy sucks. Hmm, beats me...
Heh... I recommend bypassing the 4830 and looking into the 4850 and the 4870.... but I guess you don't want to spend that much. In which case... you probably shouldn't bother upgrading.
Thanks for all the replies. There is a way to upgrade to a 4850. If i were to find it on a good sale or if i were to buy it regularly i might have to switch down to a p45 motherboard instead of a 750i which i don't is worth.. By the way i have no pieces yet.RedxSniper
I think you should do that then. If you arent planning to SLi then there really isnt much reason to get the 750i. The P45 w/ HD 4850 would be a much better choice for you. Probably better OC capabilities w/ that mobo too.
