I was looking into that program and had some questions on it. I really want to get a GTS (G92)8800 card.

IfI wait to buy the card from eVGA till they announce the 9 series coming will the step up program still apply? And if it does can I return the new 9 series after stepping up Un-opened within 30 days for a Money refund? I ask cause i dont really like eVGA.

So , basically I'll have a 8 seriesI can use for a bit then step up , not open the new 9 series , get a full refund then buy the BrandI want.

What canI say , ima girl we look for bargains :P

what is the purpose of getting EVGA in the first place then? And why not stick with EVGA, they have some cards a decent prices. Like the GTS 512mb I am getting, comes with Crysis included, and with the savings and rebate it will come to $10 less than the GT 512mb card i was getting. Well ok thats with the price of Crysis included, but still I'll be saving money since I dont have to go buy Crysis now.

But as for not opening the new card, unless they send it to you without the full packaging I guess its possible. Or you can at least sell on ebay or something for about or at full price.

I was also wondering something similar, only if I could get this card, step-up to a marginally better 8 series card, then later this summer step up again to the 9 series. I think its a yes but no one answered me.

The step-up program is only good 90 days after the original purchase. So if you step-up now, you wont be able to in late summer.

You don't get the step-up for free. Since I think that's what you're thinking. You have to pay the difference. So there's not much point.

There are 2 kinds of people

1. People who dont know anything about hardware and therefor will not step up even if they are able to.

2. People who know about hardware and therefor bought the card when it came out and arent able to use the step up.

Either way its pointless.

You may only stepup the card once. And even still you cannot get a refund on the card for money back. Best thing you can do is just sell whatever card your rolling with now and get the preferred brand, cause like someone else said, itd be pointless to stepup, pay the difference, and then sell the card.

By the way, what exactly is your beef with eVGA, they have among some of the best prices on their products, and ive yet to encounter any problems. Matter of fact, the BFG G92 GTS sitting in my unit right now is among one of the first non-eVGA cards ive purchased. To each his own.

WOW , out of all the posters no-one understood that.

Buy the8 series when they announce the release of the 9 , use said 8 series for about 30-60 days , pay the difference then Step up to the 9 series. NOT open it , return it for a full refund. Get Brand that I want.

Im sorry I cant state it any easier.

I also question... what is wrong with evga? When I have issues with an nvidia product, I usually call them up, even if the product in question was not manufactured by them specifically. They are the quickest to answer the phone, (or set up a call back), and they have people working that speak english and use the products personally. Step-up is alright imo... but I don't think I will ever get the chance to use it.

I already answered that. You cannot return the stepped up card for a refund. It goes down in their books as an RMA. They wont refund you the total cost of the card. nce you stepup, you are stuck with that card.

No you just didn't understand the posters. Someone already made clear that you cannot get a full refund off a stepped up card, so you are not going to be able to get a card for 60 days for free. Not only that, but shipping cards back and forth would leave you for weeks and weeks without any card at all.

All in all, a pretty bad idea. Also, what's your beef with evga. Best brand there is, although most of the top brands are pretty darn similar.
