Hi, recently ive been getting this error message stating that Explorer.exe had an error. After i click on Ok it will hide the taskbar and the desktop icons, but after a few seconds they all reappear...

any thoughts? No formatting, because thats the unprofessional way...

I would try the following: Boot up with windows install disc, it should give you an option to "repair windows".  If it works or if it doesn't I would then check for viruses and spyware.

yeah, just FYI: the program running that shows the task bar at the bottom and your shortcuts on the desktop just so happens to be called explorer.exe. usually, any time you close it it automaticly restarts itself since, well you can't do much without them. its possible they wont come up in which case you can ctrl+alt+del, click new task, and type explorer.exe.

but yeah, try putting the OS disk in and repairing windows.

Try Changing your memory , reinstalling your windows , coolling up your system temperature .. may solve the problem and if it didnt work out and its really bothers and piss you off format your harddrive and You'r Done , And if this message appears again after all that .. then its a hardware problem .. which is mean that you should confidently change your memory .. And if all of this didnt work either .. Then your Pc is Cursed :) And You have to live with it.
