external hdd problem -_-

well, my 1tb iomega prestige external hdd is on the fritz :'(

since i sold my rig, ive been using my laptop for eveything, its os is Windows 7 Home Premium x64.

the hdd is not recongnized.. the hdd is turned on and its plugged in via a USB 2.0 port.

if i remember correctly it worked with windows xp, and windows vista(i think..)

all help is greatly appreciated :)

Try running a demo of ubuntu and see if it comes up in that. I've had good luck with ubuntu recognizing dying drives so I can get the data off of them.

Open up the whole thing (not the hdd itself) just the extrernal casing, unplug and plug everything back in.
