Hi, so i am gonna buy a flat screen tv for playing my ps3 in the next month, i been doing my research and asking the guys who work in tvs at my store but, i have some question's id like to ask you guys as it seems alot of people on this forum r quite knowledgeable. first question what brand do u guys recommend for a 46 inch 120 hz 1080p tv and specific tv if possible? Second question should i get a lcd or a led as led r around 200-400 more then lcd and ive heard the deference are minuscule. Any additional info you guys might have about tv s is helpful though i will be buying at best buy as that's where i work and get a discount if you could recommend tvs from there it would be great :)

Get a Panasonic Plasma. Better than both LED and LCD. I can't link the specific one cause GS doesn't like BB's website, but theres plenty of 1080p panasonics at best buy.

Not true what so ever. Maybe when the tech first came out. No modern plasma will ever have burn-in. Also Panasonic's plasmas are better than any other flat screen on the market (Elite Kuro aside as it is discontinued). So if you want to spend more for less get a LCD with LED backlight. But if you want to spend less and get the best, get a Panasonic plasma. Its as simple as that. Currently the best Plasma on the market is the Panasonic VT25 which is capable of 3D too, the Panasonic V10 (no 3D) is also a great plasma.

Panasonic 50inch 3D Plasma- "TC-P50VT25" is at bestbuy for $2,599.

It has 4 HDMI and 1 VGA, you don't need to use DVI for PC anyways as it has HDMI. Not to mention the HDMI will do audio too.

Also every Panasonic plasma will have a VGA and HDMI.

So get a Panasonic G20 / G25. They have 46inch models and are under $1,600.

Example the TC-P46G25 is $1,169 on the Panasonic website.

http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/shop/Televisions/VIERA-2010-HDTV-Series/VIERA-G25-Series-Plasma-1080p-HDTVs/model.TC-P46G25_11002_7000000000000005702

It's only a model down from the VT series.

Well if you can't get the 50 inch model, the only one I see at Best Buy's website, then take a look at this 46".

You won't be disappointed with a Plasma. Plug it in via HDMI and you're good to go. :)

Plasma: Better picture quality, no need for jacked up contrast ratios like you see on most LCDs/LEDs. No motion blur. No input lag.

-Higher heat output, takes a bit more energy to run than LCDs/LEDs but not by much anymore. Weighs more so you need a better wall bracket if you're wall mounting it.

LCD: Lighter, less heat, better in brighter rooms (LED,) less power consumption.

-Inferior picture quality. Possible motion blur and input delay.

If you're only PS3 gaming, you don't need 1080p for a start as nearly all games this gen are barely 720p native. An ideal TV is one with low input lag. I suggest researching over at AVForums.org. Panasonic plasma's are usually recommended but take note: 2009 models have severe rising black levels (avoid at all costs) and 2010 models have a possibilty of rising blacks, questionable floating blacks and posterization issues. LG's plasma's are great value but the 1080p models have approx 50ms input lag (whether this amount affects you, depends on the individual) and a fair amount of image retention, as do Samsung's. When looking at sites such as those, you'll come to realise you won't be able to get a perfect TV. As a recommendation, I'd say either a Panasonic TX-P42S20 or Samsung LCD from the C530 series.

Well, recently Cnet posted an update on the 2010 Panasonics. After 1600 burn-in hours their measurements on the black levels show no rise so far. And I have a 2009 Panasonic, and while the blacks have definitely risen, they're still great.

Panasonic is a great brand for plasma and led tv's. I just bought a 37in Panasonic LED hdtv for $700 and it is fantastic for gaming and pc. I have been a plasma supporter for years, still am, but this LED television is spectacular....beautiful, sharp as a razor picture and intense colors. No game input lag, no ghosting or blurring, no uneven backlighting, very nice black levels. Best buy sells this and a 42 in version too....you should check it out.
