i just got fable the lost chapters for 20 dollars and it kept on freezing up and shutting down on me. so i bought a new fable and that one doesnt work.

it wont let me change the detail of my character or anything. or the water detail. and it keeps freezing after i kill the beetles in the woods. i think it might be my computer. i can play half life 2 on full resolution and high detail on everything. but i cant with both of the fable games. should i send my computer to be checked on?im really pi$$ed right now becuase i wasted 40 dollars on 2 of the same games that dont work.

Why would you buy the same game twice?

Try updating it or erasing all folders and resgistry entries of the game and reinstall.

Do your OS support this game?

While that's a very weak video card compared to whats out there it should still be able to run fable. Try all the normal stuff like updating your card's drivers, getting the newest version of directx, scan for viruses and defrag.

I know this is an old thread, but hopefully someone will see it and respond.  I recently acquired Fable Lost Chapters and it runs fine, but my video card isn't up to date.  Therefore the water is neon yellow and the grass is white.  What would be a good video card to consider purchasing?  Price is not an issue, but I want to spend as little as possible.

I found this thread by doing a Google search. Listen, I know this is a pretty old thread, but I have a similar problem. I just bought this game yesterday, in preparation for the upcoming Fable 2. I installed it last night and everything, graphics wise, looked crisp and clear. Now mind you I play Guild Wars online and everything looks great. Any ways, it kept freezing up in the very 5-10 minutes of the game. I can still hear sound, but my monitor then shuts off (green to yellow light). I can still hear the sound though and if I control-alt-delete and "blindly" close the program. The desktop reappears and the monitor comes back on (obviously). Two times I got an error because I had to reboot the computer improperly and it said I had a critical error in my graphics card and the Error Report recommended I do Windows Update (which I already did) or look up my driver on Dell for the latest update... which I already had. I know a few things about computers (security, etc) but not to knowledgeable when it comes to video cards. I have an ATI Radeon (something, 9800 I think, I'll update this post when I get home from work today). I always keep my Dell computer up-to-date. I'll also run a check (mentioned above) so you can see what I'm running it with. I just figured if I can run Guild Wars without a problem, I'd be able to run this game.

I appreciate any help with this and I'd like to thank all who reply in advance.
