Not really, but Fallout 2 has parts that are influenced by Fallout 1 and you'll understand them better if you've played Fallout 1
But there are only some parts.

Fallout 1 I would get.

Fallout 2 is good but their are alot of refrences to the first one.

Actually you can grt Fallout 1 FREE on gametap. So if you want you can play Fallout 1 on gametap free and buy fallout 2 from Gog.

gameplay wise Fallout 2 is better (the ability to move npcs and choose kick or punch) and has more playtime in it. It has a weaker story and is more "funny" in nature.

Fallout 1 has a better story and more coherrent setting, where FO2 is more fractured.

so its up in the air, if you want more playtime with more to do, or a better story. Note that both can last a very long time on a first playthrough.

but as someone mentioned, you can get FO1 free, so Id buy FO2 ;)

I hope they get Alpha Centauri on that site. It is hard to find at a reasonable price, especially the expansion pack.

I loved both.... So I'll leave it up to you.

Fallout 2 if you can wait through the beginning.

Fallout 1 if you want to start a fun game at the beginning.

Get the first one. Be warned though, you'll end up buying both anyway.

Both are great, personally I would refer you to Fallout 1, more instant gratification.

Why pay , when you can get them for free at gametap (if you live in the us)
