I know a lot of people have had freezing problems, but none of the boards describe the problem that I have.

[PROBLEM]
The game runs smoothly most of the time, regardless of the video settings I use, except at random times, (indoors or outdoors, looking at PIP or even VATS) the game will freeze. But only for 6 seconds, and always 6 seconds. Then play always resumes to normal for a few more minutes (or a few more seconds), and it freezes again. This seems to happen more often the longer I play.

[WHAT I'VE TRIED]
Following fixes from some other posts, I've added Fallout 3 to ffdshow's exceptions, and when that didn't work, I removed the K-Lite codecs altogether. Still freezes.

I've installed the latest video card drivers too btw, and drive indexing is off as well.

Anyone have the same/similar problem? Anyone have a solution?
Thanks,
-Tenrandomdigits-

Does this freezing happen with other games? Or just fallout3? Try some other games with high end 3D graphics.

What resolution are you playing on? if you are gaming on 1920x1200 then trying lowering the res and see what happens.

Got the answer from an Oblivion forum. It turned out to be Vodei player. Uninstalled it and it works fine now.

I see you fixed your problem already but i'll post my small trial and error and solution that worked for me to help others, I had stuttering problems that felt like framerate problems but I was always above 40FPS, I also had freezing issues that seemed to occur at random. I read in the official forums a suggestion to force Vsync off in the driver setting and that did fix the stuttering problem for me but the freezing still occured and everytime I used VATS I blue screened.

So that didn't work out for me but maybe some of you can try it. The newest drivers on the Nvidia website didn't work for me either so I decided to try some beta drivers 180.43 which fixed all of the problems for me and the game run perfectly fine, no stuttering or freezing. For ATI users best thing I can say is get the latest drivers, but I hope this helps.
