Fallout 3 crashing on final mission

Fallout 3 had run fine for me so far. I'd been to nearly every location on the map and done most of the other quest because I was saving the the main quest till the end and now that I've got to the final mission it's decided to go kaput on me.

I'm leaving the citadel to follow liberty prime but everytime I get a certain distance from the door to the citadel it crashes. Anyone else had this problem? Know of any fixes?

Try lowering your settings and see if that works. wizdom

That sucks and is sort of weird. Because you have played the whole game without problems I would tend to think it is a corrupted file. I would try backing up your save and then reinstalling. Also have you patched up to the latest version? adrake4183

I've never heard of that problem. The only advice I would give is to do what you have already done.

I accidentally beat the game, I think I was level 8 or something.

When I played the final mission the robot got stuck on the bridge like 4 times. I feel your pain, very annoyinganolecrabcf

I think I'm going to give up with this, I've tried all the suggestions and I can't see that there's anything more to be done, maybe I can just copy my last save file onto my boyfriends pc and play it on his pc instead.
