Fallout 3 killed my computer!!! literally killed my computer.  My harddrives no longer work at all, WTF.  My computer was least a 3 year old build and had a storied history(at least to me).  I put some 30 hours into the game at least, beat it and I was just exploring the Roosevelt academy with Charon.  I had to load the game again because stupid Charon got in way of my Vengence gattling gun during VATS and got vaporized.  However when I pressed the quickload button again, the game and my whole thing came crashing down. Oh the horror, all my porn, all my documents, all my personal pictures.  You bastard, you killed Kenny!!! If i knew that I would pay 50 dollars just to get kicked in the nuts, I could have payed the bum down the street to do it at a fraction of the cost.

Games dont cause computers to break. Improper care. or hardware malfuctions do. You likely had a hard drive failure, common in aging hard drives.

Although I have attributed a video game to a hardware failure in the past, I do agree that OBVIOUS TROLL IS OBVIOUS!!!

No it isn't, it happened and I am really pissed b/c because I have a lot of school work on that have yet to be turn in which I will have to retype from memory.  Imagine the half finished term papers and what not.  But at the same time, I want to laugh about it so that it doesn't ruin my entire day more than it entirely has.  Being in my last year of college and graduate school preparation still going on, I have to still classes and work despite having my crucial entertainment, music, and communication center exploding..... Being a student also means I don't have the income to buy another one anytime soon unless I run to mom and dad, which I don't want to do.

I am using the school library right now just to type this and doing a lot of catch up at the same time.  I have to start getting used to long lines at the school library computer rooms especially during peak times to get everything done.  I wanted sympathy and some laughs from pc gamers who know what it is like, but I guess I don't have any givers.  I will just drown my sorrows by overworking myself.  *sniffs*

Why would you mention Pr*n in your message, that's not really necessary. You can't blame Fallout 3 for destroying your computer, that's just being ignorant. Idk how Fallout 3 would literally destroy your computer like that, it's probably your computer and the fact taht you didn't upgrade or did a harddrive check, which you can't blame Fallout 3 for that.

Dude! Me too! I'm not sure if it's because of fallout 3 but windows just told me there was something wrong with my harddrive and that I had to get it repaired. And apparently it would be better for me to stop using my pc and save all my files before I lose them all. I'm not sure if it's because of fallout 3, but everytime I played it my pc would slow down A LOT after a while, and I did play about 44 hours of it.

I was able to play Fallout 3 without any problems on by XP system, but I just bought a new Vista 64 bit PC on the weekend and the game keeps freezing, even when I run it in XP compatability mode.  Frustrating.

Lookup Starforce and that Sony rootkit garbage from a few years back (I hear horror stories about uninstalling the Bungie game Myth 2 as well). Software can and does break hardware, not easy at all but it does happen.

If you're being serious then

Most likely your hard drive bombed out while you were playing Fallout 3 - it had nothing to do with the game other than you were playing it when your hard drive failed. The like me saying 'oh no Pearl Jam killed my hard drive' because I was listening to a PJ MP3 when my drive failed (which actually happened before).

else you can ignore it :)

Consoles are for people who know nothing about computers, IE the masses. As if a hardware failure would never happen on a console...

He isn't alone! The exact same thing happened to me. Started it up, didn't even have a chance to get out of the vault and the game froze. Couldn't Ctrl-Alt-Delete, couldn't do anything. I ended up having to switch off. It just never started again. I had a 320gb seagate barracuda, a reliable drive that was about a year old. Everything-GONE. Again, this included plenty of schoolwork. So, just saying, youre not alone, this seems like a game-related problem, not some freak accident.

Alright look this is ridiculous, I have finished Fallout 3 like 2 times and no crashes and no freezes and a game can't destroy your pc only if you didn't have the system requirements, and why mention p*rn and b*stard in this?!

Red Ring of Death ring a bell? That type of random errors/failure happens to (dare I say it?) way more 360's than PC's - PC's can have a lot of issues, but not if you know anything about the rig ur using...

There's been a few game crashes at absolute random for me, but otherwise absolutely nothing. My PC runs it fine. LOL my friend has it on 360 and was playing it and encountered a HELL of a lot little bugs and Graphical errors. That should speak for the standards of console development...

*sigh*...I absolutely LOVED the original 2 fallout games, and Fallout 3 deserves a seat of honor beside them; in my mind, it made a very smooth transition in everything it changed while adding in a few really neat new ideas; not all changes to things that worked fine previously have been bad (I.E. horse/buggies into Cars, Bows/Arrows into Guns).

*Slams head into desk and looks at the post again* Seriously? People blame a piece of software for destroying a piece of hardware? I can understand if a piece of software decided to shut down your fans running in your system and caused it to overheat but you honestly think a game that many people have played destroyed your system? Ok, I'm going back to what I was doing previously. *Slams head into desk*

Not to mention that consoles are nowhere outselling PCs. More worldwide than 250.000.000 PCs were sold in 2007, probably a little more in 2008. The amount of consoles sold in the same period? A lot less. 10-15% of that figure.

oh yea i think fallout 3 crashed my comp, the first time i played it i got like 10 maybe 12 hours into it, then it suddenly started doing a physical memory dump. I deleted the game from the computer and there were no problems with the computer since. After i decided to give it another shot, well i got to Take it Back! and what do you know, my hard drive fails on me. kept on sayin, "error with hard drive". Second day the computer doesnt even turn on anymore, it doesnt show anything just shuts off. Just so you know, i didn't have that comp hooked up to the internet, no porn, i didnt put anything on there except fallout, it was my dads comp(cuz his was the only one that can handle the game). Yea, i think its safe to say im not popping that game in again.

Even though Fallout 3 is a bit buggy I find it hard to believe that it could do such a thing. I've heard people say it made there comp crash and other things but really , this is impossible.Proper maintenance is important...what could of possibly happened is the platlets of your Hard Drive got messed up some how because of improper maintenance + The stress of fallout 3 running if your computer is older.

Just buy another HDD for like 50 bucks, hook it up, install os. Then hook up the old drive as well, boot from the new hdd and once in windows/linux whatever(could use ubuntu live cd too), you might still be able to salvage some files from your old drive.

Let me ask you a question: Is the combined userbase for all three consoles greater than 263 million (which is the PC userbase for PREBUILT GAMING PCs ONLY)?

Also, the only thing Fallout 3 "killed" was my enjoyment. That game was incredibly boring.

Same thing happened to my harddisk when I was playing Morrowind with a PC which was barely running it back in 2004(?).
