Hey guys i just finished cryostasis recently and i'm on to my next game, Fallout 3. I had started to play Fallout 3 on my old rig. I got 4 hours in and stopped. Well, i'm using that save. Pretty confused because i don't remember what happened. But that's not the point. The point is I'm having a hard time with the game. My dude is on low health, i have no "healthpacks". I don't even know what they're called in the game but i don't have them. And he is crippled in some way because he walks extremely slowly. I've had to put on the god mode cheat to get through a quest. But it's not satisfying. I need help, give me some tips.

[Edit]

By the way i'm on my way to rivet city just to let you know.

go get some stimpacks(healthpacks) and to fix the crippled thing, either rest for awhile, visit a doctor or use stimpacks.

yeah i know what you mean - you gotta have a base of some kind - i would suggest not blowing up megaton

and stay there & do the tasks for the lady writing the book - each time your near death - Run Away!

i remember going for a walk & then coming across super mutants - realized my pistol does nothing.. then limped back to megaton

you need a place to unload your items & for health

Rivet city is at the end of the world. You'll have to go through hell to get there. Not recommended for cripple people and beginners. Megaton is the place for you.

p.s. Bigtown also has a doctor, but you'll have to save her from the super mutants first.

if it is only 4 hours, then I would start over... if nothing else then to have a better rememberance of the world.

Well, I think all major settlements has doctors, sleeping cures everything If I remember correctly (sleep and you get full health, and I am almost certain crippled limbs are healed, altho not entirely sure.

Most places you stumble upon, has alot of first aid kits (hanging on walls usually) they are a great source for medpacks, and what else.

The game only has 2 "home bases" the "good" one, is in megaton" for saving it, the "bad" one is at that hotel in the south, where Mr. Burke comes from (cant remember the name).

Also focus on one ranged weapon skill first (small arms is a good one).

when I say "focus on 1 weapon skill first" I mena dont focus on energy heavy and small arms at the same time) Lockpick, and speach are 2 very good skills aswell.

If you start a new game, make a save right before you leave the vault; where you can change your stats / appearance / whatever. That way you don't have to go through the tedious beginning vault anymore.

mainquest only? around 8-15 hours, depending on a few things... The mainquest is not really the reason to play the game tho, but if you find it funny its a good romp ^^

With DLCs and doing all the quests it took me around 80 hours, that is with getting all of the bobbyheads etc aswell :)

Erm stock up on Radaway and stimpacks before you leave where ever you camp. Take about 5 each in case :)

Use the Piip-Boy lots if its your first time playing, it can be very helpful, such as selecting which part of your body to heal if your crippled.

Carry at least two weapons with different ammo types incase you run short which is possible early in the game.

With the radiation, when you here clicking, best thing is to run until you have a few specific perks and armour sets to protect you :P

If you are on a quest and are nearly dead you can jsut say "right enough for one day" and head back to camp to heal and rearm etc.

Dont know if this will help but still :)

OP, here's how to get yourself out of your current situation:

So you blew up Megaton. Big deal. You have access to Tenpenny Tower now. Go there (and try not to die along the way), turn in your quest (if you haven't already), and rest in your new room. All the merchants in Tenpenny Tower sell stimpacks so you can load up on those if you've got the cash and heal your crippled limbs that way.

After that you can go to Rivet City. It's a lot easier than the game leads you to believe though. The game makes you go through a very long, convulted, and dangerous labyrinth of subway tunnels when in reality all you have to do is follow the river in front of Washington DC down to the bay. Then when you see the Jefferson Memorial just swim over to the other side and head for the giant aircraft carrier. Voila, you've reached Rivet City without having to blow over an hour fighting super mutants, gouls, and radroaches in subway tunnels. The only downside is that in doing so you don't get any map markers put on your map throughout the DC area, so you'll have to go through the tunnels eventually if you want to explore DC (which you will).

Anyway, some protips:

- Conserve stimpacks early on in the game. At first they're hard to come by, but eventually you'll be in no short supply of them (namely when you wind up with so much cash that you can buy out the stimpack supplies of every merchant you run across). You may also wish to invest in the medical talent so that you can use stimpacks a lot more efficiently.
- Do NOT invest in any perks related to leveling. These would be the experience bonus perks and the free level-up perk. This game hands out experience points like candy, there's no point in wasting perks on faster leveling.
- There's a quest in Rivet City which gives you one of the best weapons in the game (go into the lab and talk to the guy from the government, he'll get you started on it). Furthermore, it's easy to complete so even a very low level character can do it. Do this quest early and assuming you've spec'd in energy weapons the game will be a breeze.

This isn't your type of game, most of these questions you ask can be answered fromgoogle and/or The Fallout 3 Wiki. I'd suggest you actually take time to read at least the basics of the game or move on.

Thats what i like about it;) Exploring means facing tougher enemies which means challenge or death, so you better level up alot and not play the main quest only!! I like games that give you a map and the ability to kill respawning monsters to level up!! Morrowind had that too but it was wayyy too slow for me!!

Theres a town to the north, but the name escapes me, always good for a challenge i find when your character is level 20 or higher :p filled with deathclaws lol always a challenge, and yet some places you can venture too and find only giant ants :P i love the diversity, such a great game.

I will say this, sometimes you are better off just dying or reloading a save than fighting. Better to just reload than use up all your ammo and stimpacks on a death claw or yao guai. The reward you get for killing a death claw and selling the paw is like 200 caps which will not be even close to what it will take to recoup your losses.

I agree, sometimes it is easier to just go out fighting and try your luck a second time now you know what to expect. I did this once when i encountered a super mutant with a fat-boy (mini nuke launcher) after having already taken on one too many bandits. Lots of body parts everywhere lol

Personally i prefer to not reload if i can help it, i kinda like having very few supplies. I find alot of games give you way too many supplies (mainly the shooters). I prefer going for the continuity rather than the rewards from kills, which are usually pretty meager as felixiration said :)

Its not that hard for me, but its funny because people say its dumb down but it has the same save and load. trial and error technique as fallout 2 and gothic 2!!
