Hey,

I think it's fabulous that Bethesda is doing Fallout 3. I loved Oblivion not only for its story, but for its combat, i.e. real time!

Fallout 3 looks soooo... good! Please add your thoughts

I really want it, I love the weapons and how their all scraps pretty much, and the story looks cool (I never played a fallout game before)

I dunno, I felt that Oblivion was way dumbed down compared to Morrowind, but of course, with mods, you could fix it up. Still a good game, although really overwhelming though.

Oblivion had a terribly generic and bland wrapping paper story. The combat was also pointlessly bland and served no real purpose besides exercising my index finger.

I don't expect much from Fallout 3.

If you liked Oblivion, you will probably like Fallout 3 and vice versa. Looks pretty good to me, I liked Fallout 2 a lot.

Well this won't be the most popular opinion. But my favorite Fallout was tactics, I wish they were making a new Fallout tactics.

The game was good based on the hugeness and detail of the world in which to explore, but beyond that, it was extremely shallow in story and gameplay...Gooo Witcher!

It seems that what was the huge strong point of Troika (writing, humor, witt, pop culture references, ambiance) is the huge weak point of Bethesda. So I'm not awaiting much either... low expectations can't be bad either way :p

Bethseda has gone down hill.

Morrowind was amazing

Obilivion was a dumbed down version.

Fall out will be no different.

Yeah, the story was kinda bad

But still, I loved the mechanics!

I really think the move to Bethesda is a good idea for people who loved Oblivion.

Meanwhile (having played both Oblivion and Fallout), Fallout lovers (but Oblivion haters), might not like it

As far as I know, Oblivion wasn't marketed as a shooter.

They exercise my mind as well as my finger, as they force me to strategise. You know how many times I died in Oblivion? None. You know how many times I almost died in Oblivion? None. That's what happens when the world levels with you. Combat was a non-issue.

If Fallout is anything like Oblivion, then I won't be buying it.

I look at it this way, if you expect a not-too-deep action "RPG", then Fallout 3 is going to be great. A shooter with RPG elements. If you expect a deep, old school RPG, then it will probably suck. I haven't played it yet, so I could be wrong, but I've seen a couple of vids. The game looks like a TPS set in an open world. Could be a good thing or it could be a bad thing. Bethesda isn't exactly known for the quality of their combat mechanics...

wrong question.

the upcoming fallout game is fallout in name only. it's not good or bad, it's an Oblivion in a different setting, as the Beth people already said that (a successor of Oblivion).

if you're talking about Fallout series, then the question is also close to pointless, since Fallout series doesn't need to be like Oblivion (or any other game) to be good or bad. It's unique by its own right.

i don't know. the action looked like it sucked. if it's anything like mass effect, i'll be extremely happy with it, but from what i've seen of the game, i seriously doubt it'll come even close.

Yeah, I agree with you, but I try not to critisize this game too much since none of us have played it yet... Which is kinda hard, lol.

Funny thing is: I'm not a fan of the older games, but I sure as hell see more quality there than in this new title.

I'm probably close to the only one that is a ol'school Fallout fan and that liked Oblivion despite it's flaws on this site.

I'm anxiously waiting for the call that my pre-order copy has arrived.

it looks alot like Oblivion, even when you talk to people the game pauses and zooms in on their face the exact same way as oblivion. And the ambient music I've seen in trailers (not the pipboy radio) sounds alot like the same haunting background music of one of Oblivion's caves.

I wouldn't get your hopes up, so far the shooting looks rather...Bioshocky imo.

Yes yes, most usually don't.. But when they keep talking about how much like Oblivion its going to be, on how its the spiritual successor etc etc.. In my mind this game and Oblivion will be the example of dumbed down games.
