I bought New vegas in the sale and I am looking to add some mods to the game. Played it on the xbox so I am looking to add a few new weapons and maybe something to change the visuals. Can anyone suggest any must have mods?

This is a must have. It's a UI mod that allows more information to be displayed at once. Now everything doesn't look so big. http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/34902

I made a gigantic list a while ago, then linked that list to another topic exactly like this, and I guess I'll do it again because why not? Link.

Also in addition to the listed ones, if you get Fallout 3 Weapon Restoration and Weapon Mods Expanded, get the WMX compatibility patch on the downloads page here so you can mod your Fallout 3 weapons. No such patch needed for the Fallout Classic Weapons mod from my experience. In particular, the top 5 mods I would recommend (in order) if you can only pick 10 (though I hope you get them all), would be:

1. Project Nevada: Pretty much revamps and rebalances the whole game to your liking, adding in awesome features like sprinting, bullet time and a grenade hotkey, as well as very useful helmet overlay and vision modes, changes throughout the world and menu options letting you decide what you want and what you don't want, plus customizable perk allocation (though one ever two levels is the classic way of doing it, I have one every level just because the insane amount of extra perks almost requires it), different things you can change and support for other mods like iHUD.

2. Nevada Skies: Adds rain, dust storms, incredibly dark nights, rad storms, and customizable special moods that can get you in the mindset of whatever post apocalypse you are looking for.

3. Weapon Mods Expanded: More weapon modding delight, even letting you mod unique weapons, but a tradeoff exists in certain weapons with mods pre installed have them removed until you buy or find the mods to put on them, though they still look and feel unique.

4. Unlimited Companions: Very helpful in tougher early combat situations and for carrying a bit extra, though I don't ever like to have more then 3 followers at once, but the slightly harder gameplay and lower strength values makes this more useful.

5. Classic Fallout Weapons: Adds a POOP ton of guns from the earlier Fallout titles, fully compatible with WMX and naturally placed into the world.

6. Weapon Mod Menu: Allows you to remove and add mods at your leisure and see the bonuses you get from them, as well as what weapons you can use them on.

7. Fallout 3 Weapon Restoration: Adds in Fallout 3 guns, though you'll want to patch it for WMX support of course.

8. MTUI: Improved UI, not a major drastic change but makes the menus much easier to use.

9. Populated Casinos: Instead of the boring and almost empty casinos of the vanilla game, the casinos now have plenty of patrons and gamblers to add life and make the loud indoors sound effects feel appropriate.

10. Mission Mojave Ultimate Edition: Pretty much a giant bug fix patch that improves performance, removes some immersion breaking stuff and glitches, and smooths the game up a bit to prevent annoying VATS, loading and crashing issues.

Also if you haven't already, you should get the Script Extender and Mod Manager. They are pretty necessary.

I used most of those mentioned plus:

realistic headshots - headshot = kill/death

i hate cazadors - basically makes them less hard to kill

crippled legs less movement - u get the picture

centered 3rd person camera - not only is it centered but you can zoom out very much

tag skills improved - improves your tagskills (duh)

cacti - adds cacti

drugs are bad - adds visuall effects when you suffer withdrawal and so on

faster terminals - speeds up terminal "loading times"

bouncing natural breasts combined with bb armor replacer - the first one adds bouncing breasts, the second replaces womens armor (the first mode also has armor included but I thought it looked ridiculous)
