Fallout Vegas V.S. Dragonage Origins

When i get out of surgery tomorrow i will have a new video card. I will in bed rest for roughly a week or so. I'm debating on wheter to get Dragon Age or Fallout Vegas on the PC. I LOVED Fallout 3 but i'm wondering if i should wait till there is a patch for Vegas. There might be a patch by now though. Dragon Age seems very cool but if it's like Mass Effect or Elder Scrolls i won't like it. I love RPG's but for some reason i can't stand those two.

It's either those two or buying some new time on wow or finding a better mmo

As much as i like Fallout NV , i would go with DAO .

Get Fallout NV...Dragon Age is good...but Fallout 3 and New Vegas are slighty better(only my opinion,not the absolute truth,so dont start flame me)

P.S. Fallout NV looks and feels like a true RPG...on the other hand Dragon Age its also a good...a very good game actually,only it lacks so many rpg elements...

Actually it really what you want more , a classical fantasy RPG , heavy story and character based or post apocalyptic RPG whitch is more based on exploring and side quests .

what exactly about mass effect or oblivion did you not like? If we new, it may help to make a recommendation for you.

I have not played fallout NV yet; however i have really enjoyed dragon age; and i can recommend it as a really good game. and i believe that the ultimate edition with all the DLC is out next week.

With the different DLCs and Awakening expansion, Dragon Age can keep you indulged for over 100 hours, and IMO it's one of the best RPGs ever made.

DAO by far. Vegas is also a mess right now. Better to wait for them to fix the bugs with patches. Plus by the time they get it running right it will probably be cheaper.

How on earth did i miss this post ... Nowadays ppl dont understand what TRUE rpg is .

From what I've played so far, New Vegas is a better game than Dragon Age. Of the games mentioned, I'd rank them something like:

New Vegas > Mass Effect 2 > Dragon Age > Mass Effect 1 > Fallout 3 > Oblivion.

Subject to possible change pending my completion of NV, but I doubt it.

Both are excellent games, it depends on what you're looking for in an RPG. New Vegas is an open ended free roaming trek across a pretty huge landscape, while Dragon Age is focused on storytelling and party interactions.

Again, both are very good, but if you loved Fallout 3 I see no reason to skip New Vegas. Most of the issues aren't as serious as you were led to believe and two patches were already released.

Fallout NV without a doubt. It's awesome. And from my own experience, I've experienced no game breaking issues, just the odd graphical oddity here and there.... it truly is what Fallout 3 should have been. The dark humour in it is just so deliciously evil and funny.... just how I like my games. Only Portal in recent memory had as black a sense of itself as this game, which is as great an accolade as you can probably get.

BTW hope you're feeling better whatever it was you were in surgery for, and I wish you a speedy and enjoyable gaming recovery ;)

Those are two different-themed RPGs.

You cant compare them. You can compare oblivion and dragon age origins for example.

And just for the protocol FNV is better than F3.

Dragon Age is a "consolized" game...so in order to make it sell on the console too the devs stripped it out of many rpg elements...

Ofc ur next question will be "what elements?

Well let me name a few:Character customization is weak...so few items to choose from,like armor and weapons...merchants and trading is implemented in the game but is useless...the story is "meah"...it is linear with no side quests,its a straight forward game...not an open world type of game...its a "corridor-action-rpg" type of game,it is made this way only so it would appeal to the console kids...

DA is nothing like ME or Elder Scrolls.

Fallout is like Elder Scrolls, though.

I like Fallout: New Vegas a lot, but Dragon Age is the RPG of the decade...

what the... consolized ? stripped rpg elemets ? action rpg ? really ?

I wont even try to make and argument here because either you didnt play DAO ON PC , or you just dont have clue in general about what rpg is . I would go that you didnt play DAO at all or on PC if you call it coridor action rpg .

I understand if you dont agree with person who said its the best rpg of past decade , but saying its one of the wors is just silly . More so you name only 9 other rpg's from witch 7 are good . We are talking about 10 years for crying out loud and 7 better games isnt much you know , heck : if rpg is top 10 decade rpg's its a must play .

lol, the only good RPG from that list is The Witcher

I don't recommend New Vegas. After beating it, the only thing keeping me from uninstalling it on Steam is because of mods.

DA:O is a very polished game but unless you're a big fan of the fantasy genre (unlike me) the game has really nothing to offer story-wise. Don't get me wrong, I've just grown really tired the whole elf, wizards, enchanted forests, etc. crap.

Fallout NV is much more fun and alot less frustrating, but with tons of bugs, which will all get fixed eventually.

I'd say get NV.
