Would using the manual fan control and setting it to 60% cause the fan to live a shorter time before burning out? Since on Auto its always on 39-42%

Not really. It might shorten the lifespan but by the time that happens you will most likely have a new video card. I haven't had a fan on video card go out on me and I always adust the speeds depending on the task I'm doing.

It shouldn't be a problem. Especially, if you are setting it to run at 60% all the time. Most of what I've heard is you might shorten the lifespan/run into problems if you are changing the speeds often. But that has never happened with any of the video cards that I've had and they all still work just fine.

Alright then, I'll stick it to 50 just to be safe :P, just an off topic question but my card idles at about 43 C and runs at high 60's low 70's under load, If I turned the fan Up could I overclock a bit?

Yes, and I haven't had even had my 8800GTS 512 go bad yet, and the fan is pretty much at 100% while gaming. 70 under load isn't bad, infact thats actually fairly cool, go ahead OC it.

Wait...screw that, its at 43c at idle, i just tried the furmark test, its been on for about 15 min. its at 88C! Is this a bit to hot? this is at stock settings, im not going to OC it but should I get another fan? a 45 degree difference from just if its under load or not is pretty big to me
