i knew that a half year ago - HL2 will still be great game, and BTW it'll come in 2008/9 when Crysis will come in 2007 - so i'm not so excited coz it'll almost the same thing

what does a sequal to Farcry have to do with HL2? Besides it's not for some time, they're currently working on Crysis...not Farcry 2, tho they did say they will make a Farcry 2.GenTom

Crysis and Far Cry 2 are being produced by 2 separate companies. Crysis is a Crytek game, whereas Far Cry 2 is being developed by Ubisoft's Montreal office (who are currently working on Assassin's Creed).

I assume that gpvalkyrie means that Far Cry 2's graphics and gameplay will be superior to HL2's, and will render HL2 obsolete. I don't share his opinion, mind you.

I'm confused. Half-Life 2 has little to do with FarCry, and FarCry 2 won't be an adventure game...

Although I agree with you that Farcry was one of the best FPS's in its day, Farcry 2 is not being developed by Crytek so IMO there is lots of room for UBI to screw things up, and judging by their recent releases, I would not hold by breath for a triple A game.

Crytek is currently working on Crysis and since their publishing the game with EA I seriously dought they'd license the Cryengine 2 to UBI. For this reason I dought it will have any kind of real physics or destructible environments. And with Crysis coming out in a couple months just about any FPS using previous gen engine is obsolete graphically.

Personally I'm not going to get excited about it until I see some evidence that they are not going to mess it up. As someone else said Crytek isn't making this sequel, but Ubisoft Montreal, and I haven't been very impressed with Ubisoft's PC titles lately. Most are just lazy unoptimised console ports that run like crippled dogs on good hardware. They also made all those stupid console variants of Far Cry that were nowhere near as good as the original PC game.

Its made by Ubisoft which means....

1. It will suck

2. It will be unoptimized

3. I will not buy it

Depends when you originally played it.

I got it back when it came out (before Doom3 and Half-Life2 were released), and it was godly.

It also has the free-form flavour of FPS shooting rarely seen in FPS titles nowadays as most publishers take the quick and easy route of making everything so god-damned linear.

Anyhow, FarCry2, not going to bother, it's Ubisoft afterall, and as mentioned, their PC support is god awful.

Ubisoft sucks on pc.

Even if Ubisoft Montreal make a nice game, it won't be a true sequel...

Crysis is more FarCry 2 than Ubisoft's Farcry 2

I personally liked Far cry better than HL2. Sorry, i know that might be considered blasphemy to many. This is why i think Crysis is going to be an amazing game, not only has Crytek proved they can make fun, great looking games in the past, but now they have learned from their mistakes.

Of course HL2 has better longevity because of the great mod community.

what the hell you're talking about- maybe you don't know anything about it but mostly of us we sure know what's the story - and all the cool options you can do with the armor and weapon

next time you say "we know" try to be more specific

You can't actualy comment on a story until you've finished it. Let alone before you've even played it.

HL2 had better storyline, FarCry had better gameplay, can we leave it at that?

Is this thread comparing HL2 to FC2? If so - me don't understand. I might as well say 'To all your Wolfenstein Fans prepare for Doomsday as HL2 Episode 2 will wipe clean of any Wolfenstein games'.
