this too look like great games whiel left 4 dead may seem too arcady for my tastes while far cry 2's health system free roaming environment, animals, buddy system, and pretty much everything about look amazing left 4 dead looks tight director and zombies but only 20 levels and very little replayability (well it looks like it the director looks to do very little to change the game) now before you comment screaming 'OMG LIEL L4D" i want opinions from people who have BOTH games and remember whichever one i dont get i get on christmas

Both, but Left 4 Dead first, wait for fc2 to go down in price then snap it up.

I'd get left4dead first, while its still fresh and played a lot. FC2 is mostly for single player anyhow.

I would personally choose L4D. I have played both games, and they're both in the top 3 games this year for me (F3 is no.1). L4D has much more replayability than it seems at first glance, because although you don't really notice the director when you're playing, it means there are no moments when you'll say "Okay guys, here's the part where the Zombie jumps out the closet", which would completely ruin the point of a co-op campaign.

If you're not a fan of co-operative gameplay with mostly strangers, however, Farcry 2 is the better choice. Big world, Big replayability. However, in my mind there's nothing truly revolutionary to be found in Farcry 2, and most of the stuff there (excluding the AWESOME health system) can be found in Crysis.

Don't give up on L4D though. Valve isn't the type of developer that abandons it's games, and if you're on PC you can expect a LOT of new (free) content to be coming for L4D over the next couple of years. Look at TF2 to see what I mean.

Get L4D, and then FC2 when it's cheaper and some patches are released.

Left 4 Dead for sure. Don't be fooled by the four campaigns; they are challenging and hold great replay value.

Far Cry 2 can get a little tiresome after awhile, but Left 4 Dead is just great fun with friends and a mic.

Left 4 Dead for me.

Far Cry 2 - 50% genius, 50% utter crap. For every brilliant thing, there's something bad to compensate.

Get L4D.

Both can get repetitive in there own ways but in l4d at least the repetitive part is in the action not the driving. The random seeding of maps in l4d is interesting buts it's not enough to call it "a completely different gameplay experience every time". Still Left 4 Dead's VS mode could keep me entertained for hours. The Longevity of Far Cry 2 is only good if it doesn't get boring after a while you just get tired of driving around, setting fields ablaze doesn't have the same "Wow" effect as it used to. You should choose Left 4 Dead, just because it's more entertaining. Far Cry is longer, but it won't keep your attention as much.

im not big into multiplayer games, so IMHO

farcry 2. the first few hours are utterly breathtaking, the rest is also extremely good, this game really has a lot going for it. i think most of the hate for it here, is just for the sake of it, and exteme nit picking.

i tried the l4d demo, and the guns look like peashooters:(. enough to put me off. but that is only me

Or me here Far cry for singleplay but gets borring later on like ALL FREE ROAM GAMES!!!! So stop whining about that! Left for dead for multiplayer but tell me why the game is so short? or the graphics? or the sound? i mean 3 years in development and it doesnt worth the 50 bcks!
