First off, let me describe to you my computer to the furthest extent I can, in hopes that the information provided will provide some insight as to how to increase performance. Corsair CMPSU-650TX 650w PSU Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe nforce-570 AMD X2 6000+ 3.0GHz (2 cores) Nvidia Geforce 9800GTX 512MB running at 795/1200 4GB OCZ SLI-READY DDR2 800 (2x2GB) Creative X-Fi Soundblaster Fata1ity edition Seagate 7200RPM SATA HD, 160GB LG Flatron Wide 19'' 5000:1 contrast/ 2ms response Now I purchase Far Cry 2 the other day, and after experimenting with graphical settings I settled with high setting enabled on everything, physics was very high, textures was very high, geometry is very high. I can get anywhere from 60fps to down around 15 when the action is intense. Now, this is perfectly playable for me, it's a little choppy at times but nothing I can't deal with. Then I watch a graphical comparison video on youtube and this guy had the EXACT same rig as me, save his processor was only 2.75GHz. He was breezing through ultra high mode no sweat. no slowdowns, to graphical glitches, no nothing. how is he able to do this? all my drivers are up to date to the best of my knowledge, and that includes BIOS, chipset, sound, video, windows is up to date. what is holding back my performance? what are some steps I can take to increase my overall fps? my HD stays defragged constantly, I am protected with AVG anti-virus 8.5 home edition, I use CCleaner/registry optimizer constantly... I simply can't think of anything else I can do. Could someone please help me out? how do your systems perform compared to mine? what are you doing to get that performance? how can I improve the performance of my computer? any help would be greatly appreciated.

What resolution are you playing on, and what resolution was this YouTube guy playing on?

And how much AA are you both using?

Funny thing is that every day i see more people complaining about games that supose to run well but they run like crap, which is the controvesary of people saying: "What the hell gta iv runs just fine" Far cry 2 is supose to be maxed out easilly in a sual core 2.6ghz and 8600 gt. I think the problem is relatted to the drivers you are using and the other programs such as anitvirus. It will be wise to use tune- up utilities to check up your pc and delete junk files.

1440x900 is the resolution I use, and is the same resolution used by the person in the video. I use 2xaa, and I think the user was also using AA (he didn't say, although it was apparent.)

You aren't forcing excessive amounts of AA and AF in the Nvidia control panel are you?

what processor did the guy have on youtube use intel amd? cause according to these benchmarks farcry likes fast cpu and multiple cores and is especially cpu bound at lower resolutions.

the 1280x1024 benchmark which is comparable to 1440x900 shows big improvements of up to a 100% as you move up from a amd 6000+

i would link but glitchspot wont let me :(

as you move up in resolution the cpu plays less of a role but still a small bottleneck and a better gpu(gtx 285) or 2 sli/crossfire cards would most likely be bottlenecked quite a bit by a 6000+ at even veryhigh resolutions. all the text are run using a 4870 btw.

Is this guy using the same settings as you? It's possible that setting the physics setting to very high could be making the game pretty choppy.
