Far Cry 2 weapon help

Is is possible for carrying 2 primary weapons in far cry 2 (for example: M16 and SVD) I've seen that before in gameplay videos, but when I try picking up another primary weapon, it literally swap with my previous weapon.

From what I have read about the game, you can only carry one small arm, medium weapon and heavy weapon, ie pistol, smg and assault rifle.

I think that might change once the game progresses though
