Yup, there never was a demo released. Its a shame. I wont buy a game w/o a demo.

Making demos for open-ended games like FarCry is tricky and not worth time/money investment. You have to somehow constrict the player from exploring the whole game (which is what most open games are about!) but give them a feel for the mechanics (which cannot be fully explored if you're channeled down corridors).

Also a FarCry 2 demo would pull an Assassin's Creed on everyone - you play the demo, you've played the whole thing. It's an incredibly repetitive game.

I think they could easily create a smaller 1 mission map for the demo that doesn't feature in the full game but still shows off the core game mechanics, all it boils down to really is just lazy devs.

Have to agree here, this is probably one of the main reasons why they decided not to make a demo!
