Recently I've started working with large 32 bit images in photoshop and illustrator and I've noticed I'm almost filling my 2gbs of ram (running W7 2GHz C2D and an 8600Mgt).

I plan to upgrade my laptop in a year or so and i'm looking for a pen drive exclusively for ready boost.

Any suggestions on fast drives?

Thanks.

pretty much every run of the mil flash drive will work these days. just go to your local store and pick one up.

Edit: Although you probbly wont get any performance increase with what you are doing. and also your hard drive is also set up as virtual memory so if you actually run out of ram it will start using your HDD as ram. although this will be incredably slow.

Just put more RAM in it, most laptops can deal with up to 4gb RAM (the newer ones up to 8gb and the top dev laptops 16gb)

I don't want to spend a lot of money on it as it's being replaced in a little over a year.

Ram isn't expensive.

Laptop ram is. It'll cost about £100 for 2x2gb sticks, money I don't want to spend on this machine.

2gb only costs 40 quid, simply adding more RAM will make a much larger difference than a flash drive

Agree... I recommend patriot xporter 8gb or 4gb (ready boost)... You'll notice the different in firefox and photoshop (if you open a lot of file) but not in gaming...
