I played Unreal Tournament 99 for about 6 years, off and on. im one of the better players online, and i can compete with the best players daily. after playing that game for so long and then trying to steer away to get into a newer one, its really hard. so can anyone help me find a fast paced futuristic FPS like unreal? i cant get into call of duty because im not into the whole WWII and Veitnam games n stuff. any ideas guy!?
This might sound like a smart-ass answer, but what about UT2k4? or UT3? I loved the original UT and liked both those games, as well as counterstrike (source)
It's not as fast-paced as the Unreal Tournament series, but I wholeheartedly recommend Team Fortress 2. It's just wonderfully chaotic! But if you want fast-paced online games, then you can't go wrong with Quake 4. Not sure if people still play it much these days...
I have recently required a copy of shogun total war its such a great game...then i remembered why id uninsulated it the last time, iv never know n a game that crashes so much, iv got a top spec computer with the latest Nvidia graphics drivers so i can t blame my computer...the game p[lays thru until i go to exit then it freezes solid and i have to bump start my computer with the restart button the front of the computer,...iv tryed all the usual combinations of buttons to try to unfreeze it all to no avail, my questions are 2 fold will i damage my computer by having to bump start it, and does anyone have a fix like a file i have to modify to stop it crashing, im running XP home by the way, the game crashes on both of my computers.
I'll assume you've played Quake 3? You should try CPMA mod for Quake 3, http://www.promode.org/ Also look at Warsow, standalone mod off of Quake 2. http://www.warsow.net/?page=home Both heavily focused on movement and map control, both are often used for competitions and tourneys.

Get Unreal 3, it's an amazing experience if you liked the old ones. They've added a lot nice little features and the online play is not dead like a previous poster said. It's definitely worth a play if you enjoyed the older ones.
