Steam does have buggy games too. Just take a look at Vampire: Bloodlines. I'm unable to play the game.
What kind of problems have you had with Bloodlines? I'm curious, because I have that downloaded from Steam as well. I haven't ran into any bugs.

I can't even start the game. It crashes after startup videos.

Unofficial patches? Try K-lite codec pack, maybe that'll help? (If this is video related...) Latest drivers?

That sucks, Mara. It's a great game. Sorry you're having trouble. It may indeed be a codecs issue, like Artur says.
Ultimate Doom/Doom II.
Make sure you get Doom Legacy or zDoom or something, though.

Mouse support for Doom is a must!

I got the 4.5 unofficial patch, K-lite and 169.25 NVIDIA driver. I know there's 169.28 beta drivers now too, but I haven't had time to get it yet.

I know you're probably joking, but I agree. I always play it when waiting for other things to install or some other resource-heavy task to finish.

personally, i'd have to go with minesweeper or freecell.
RK-Mara, latest sound drivers, all the C++ crap and latest NET framework redistributable and all that (I don't actually know what they do, never bothered to learn but some games require them)? You can see if they are installed in Add/remove programs. Install Quicktime just to be safe. If you have 64 bit system, try this:
