Favorite PC Game...need advice

What is your favorite PC game of all time and why?  I am buying a new game this weekend and wants some feelers.  I already have Oblivion and CoH.

I have quite a lot of favorites, but the old favorite is Quake 3. And I like Doom 3 as well, despite what everyone else says about the game.

Half Life, Call of Duty, Tomb Raider (except Angel of Darkness), Prince of Persia are all my favorites.  

Favourite PC game of all time? Hands down, StarCraft: Brood War.

If you're talking about more recent releases, then Supreme Commander's awsome. 

Definently consider getting Half-Life 1 & 2, Morrowind, any PC Medal of Honor and Call of Duty, Battlefield games, Starcraft, Warcraft III...man the list just goes on and on.

C&C3 WC3 Scarface...Those are the games you should buy:P

I had a blast with all of these (on a newer machine).

StarCraft, hands down. 

 1st reason:  Best game ever.  The characters are amazing, the story is amazing, graphics...meh(who needs flashy graphics anyways.

2nd reason:  Cheap.  The battlechest is only like $20.  The battlechest includes StarCraft and its expansion, Brood War.

3rd reason:  Best MP of any game out there.  There is a reason why SC and SC:BW have been at the International Gaming Championchips every year since its release in 1998.  And that reason is ownage. 

Maybe operation flashpoint or armed assault, those are fantastic, also the Half life series (my all time fave) or maybe even the fallout games (1 and 2) I alsol really like the theif series, and even maybe Giants citizen Kabuto (I cry in that games abscence).Grechin

But if you want the true greatest PC game of all time:

SYSTEM SHOCK 2

It kicks the trash out of everything else. It's a horror FPS/RPG with a great story, serious creeps, and plenty of brain. It's old, but I played it through again about a year ago and it was every bit as good as I remembered ... maybe even better, thanks to the release of a couple mods.

Medeival 2 total war. 

amazing rts games. 

I can't name one but I will name a few:

Diablo 2, StarCraft, Doom 1-3, Call of Duty 1-2, Silent Hunter 3-4, Morrowind + Expansions and mods (better than Oblivion IMO) I also loved all the old school space sims. Oh and all of the Quakes. I'm not a huge fan of MMO's.
