What race in Guild wars 2 did you find to be the most funnest/ your favourite? based on starting area and overall field...pretty much based on everything.

Explain Why!! : D

Sylvari was the only race I played during the beta, and sure, I liked them. The personal story was pretty cool.

sylvaris are a favorite for me, but i love the asuras and how snarky they are. i actually pretty much like all races, but from a "what i want to play" standpoint, i'd say the charr are the one i like the least.

As a concept I love the Sylvari. The one I will actually plan to start with is human, since I sort of want to treat the first character I make as a descendent of my Guild Wars character.

Absolutely not, but I suppose mine will be more of a successor than a decendant.

I was gonna say engineer would be the most fun class, I'm not quite sure why a particular race would be more fun than another race.

That might make a certain race more interesting than another one, but how does that make it more fun?

Fun means gameplay changes.

You're pathetic, find another hobby. How much of a pathetic loser do you have to be to stop posting around this forum and just stalk a person? rhetorical question I know reporting trolling spam is useless, but you're just too much of an idiot not to report for this spam.

one race might have a story that isn't fun for you, and another has. fun has to do with enjoyment, not gameplay mechanics. and some people enjoy certain races, and don't enjoy others.

Speaking of looks, does anyone know more about how the armor sets function? I saw some type of sets of Sylvari and information on how armor is implemented is pretty random, for example does the look change with more advanced sets? or end sets are identical in stats, but with multiple styles to choose from? or maybe you can keep to a certain set you like and upgrade it towards the best sets? Most of the Sylvari sets I managed to find around the net look great, but some of them are insanely awesome and it would be great if you'd be able to choose to stick to one type of set while advancing with the general level of the gear.

9 on average, but if you're playing norn and not putting height on max, you're doing it wrong :P vikings are nords. except these are giant, drunk, werebear vikings.

I'm pretty sure the armor has a level range. It does change for sure though, the armor you see on character creation is completely different from what you start with. If you want to use the same armor design as you level up you will have to convert gold into gems and grab transmutation stones.

stat-wise, armor sets "cap" pretty quickly. then it's all about picking a set with the look you like and apply a rune that goes with your build. there is one armor set per dungeon (3 if you count weight tiers), plus 3 armor sets (9 with tiers) that are exclusive to each race. there are also a bunch of other sets that have nothing to do with race or dungeons that you can pick too. at least that's what we know for now. maybe there are more race-exclusive armor, but i don't think so.

if you have a set with the stats you like, but want the look of another set, you can buy (with karma or gems) a transmutation stone, which is a consumable that gives one armor the appearance of another, while retaining the stats.

took a while to find (i got sidetracked :P), but there we go:

all cultural armor sets (aka race-exclusive sets);

all dungeon armor sets.

all in horrible, HORRIBLE dye colors, but what can you do.

Thanks, glad you're able to change the appearance with another set, was worried that, worst case scenarion, the gear would change completely at a certain gear quality level like in other games, or that it'd start like WoW and sometimes later (sadly) it'd offer a way to change, but glad it's available from the start. Some of the Sylvari sets, even if generally good, are terrible on male characters and some are terrible on female chracters. Now I'm also considering making an Asura warrior, just to make it more exciting till I finish the area I already completed for Sylvari during the last beta, those Asura heavy sets are gorgeous @_@.

i wanted to make an asura ele just because of the tier 3 light armor :P but i couldn't stand the ele, and i don't like the other two light armor cIasses either >.>

BTW, those cultural armor sets are available at level 35, 60 and 80, respectively. though if you have the coin, you can always just buy it and use the transmutation stone to get the looks of it and the stats of a lower-level armor :P

pick the race based on looks and the personal story you like the most. if you don't like a starting area, you can just move out of it.

and the "cute small things" are called asuras :P i have a friend playing an asura necromancer, thing looks like the devil spit. here's him screaming at bunnies (which is totally a thing in GW2):

Yeah, the Charr starting story also put me off a bit. They are all just tough and want to bash everyone, lol. Yes, Asura.... so cute. Where do they come from? I just want to imagine a small Asura with evil red eyes running around summoning dead creatures....

*points at edit* I GET SIDETRACKED WHILE EDITING STUFF D: they come from underground, one of the elder dragons (primordus) kinda kicked them out of it. they're somewhat lizardlike (triangular, pointy shark-like teeth and the way their limbs look like being the most notorious traits), and their underground origins explain the big eyes and ears. they're also extremely smart, and extremely arrogant about it, which makes them hilarious. also they have the best necro lines ever: "each one more hideous than the previous" and "I'VE CREATED LIFE! ...of sorts"

Humans look great in armor so I could see why some people might want to go with that to be "safe." Plus, I hear that people like the human starting area. Right now, I'm either going with Char, Human, or Asura, so I might not roll Human. I think it will come down to Asura or Charr. Don't get me wrong, the viking-nordic-warrior-loving part of me want to choose Norn but I'm not crazy about how they look. They look more like bulky cartoon characters out of a Saturday morning cartoon when they should look like Viking badasses. The females are okay, but the male Norn looks "off." -imho-

I use a set of names with all the MMOs I play, and guaranteed to not be used or thought of by others. :D They always work. I'm creative like that. ;P

Here's dungeon armors and stuff that you guys might want to look at. I know character appearances are very important to some players so be sure to check out how your race will look in their respective armor. Remember, it's [Light, Medium, Heavy] armor based, not by class. Guild Wars 2 couldn't come any sooner... :x

ASURA ASURA ASURA They are just sooooo cute !!! I'm going "CUTE MMO MODE" these next months. Asura in GW2, and Panda in MoP !!!

Humans look great in armor so I could see why some people might want to go with that to be "safe." Plus, I hear that people like the human starting area. Nice Nice... all I need now is a Generator. Or does the game have inbuilt name generator?

i'll most likely have a norn guardian at some point, i just don't want to go overkill and use up 5 slots at launch.

i got that covered earlier on the thread, just not with names to the sets :P

took a while to find (i got sidetracked :P), but there we go:

all cultural armor sets (aka race-exclusive sets);

all dungeon armor sets.

all in horrible, HORRIBLE dye colors, but what can you do.

All I want to do is hug that thing.... I don't know, there's just something special about seeing an evil small red-eyes Necro-Asura taking down a huge beast...
