Easily Far Cry 3. From what I'm hearing and readin, AC3 is one of the weaker AC games (which is a shame, since the setting is probably my favorite, even if it is mostly politics and they kind of botch it up with involving Connor in EVERYTHING). On the contrary, FC3 is constantly being hailed as the best FC, and one of the best FPS games this year.

I would guess it depends on whether you wanted more shooter or more adventure. They are very different games.

Haven't played FC 3, lost interest, never got it, but unless you "really" care about the AC general story, avoid AC 3, it's terrible at what makes AC, gameplay is improved and graphics, everything else is just bad, even free running is broken with an added bonus of being able to hang around in trees.

I'm playing through AC3 and FC3 at the moment. One is a chore to play through and the other is Far Cry 3. AC3 has performance issues, balance issues and bugs. The quests are really poorly structured at times, it's exceptionally linear in the first few sequences.

Both games hold your hand so much it makes you want to stop playing. But I'd guess FC3 is better.

AC3 is a great 18th century Naval Combat game with a bunch really crappy and broken action game elements on the side - its probably the worst game in the series that I've played (all of the main entries apart from Revelations). I'm not that big a fan of AC either.

Far Cry 3 is a very well designed open world game with lots to do and good gameplay/gunplay.

Both games look quite good and ran fine (for me), but I'd avoid the former until its really cheap, or just not get it at all, and pick up the latter.

I've not played either, but personally I prefer the Far Cry series and general feel over Assassins Creed. I feel like if you've played a recent AC you've played them all.

AC3 is good and my favorite of the series, but it does have its fair share of issues (starts off very slow slow, bugs, not the best performance). Its a TON better then the garbage that was AC:Revelations though.

Overall FC3 is the better made/designed game imo (Reminds me of the best aspects of Crysis1, Red Dead Redemption and Just Cause2), can have a good amount of fun with both though depends on the person really.

FC3 would be in my top 5 of this year, AC3 would just crack the top 10.

Nice to see both games improve over the last game in there series (Revelations and Farcry2), which I thought both where lackluster.

People who only care about the graphics in great games, are like people who only care about the writing in pornos.

Like a boss.

Anyway, I'm super interested in AC3, but I've heard a lot of bad stuff about it, particularly about the PC version having issues. Far Cry 3, I've been playing, and it's incredible. Easy GOTY contender, and one of the best in a few years. Also, the PC version is particularly great, and if you've got a good system, it'll look absolutely gorgeous.

Put it this way: I just went on a quest to hunt a rare shark in Far Cry 3. I wanted its skin to make a better arrow quiver. So I get in a patrol boat, head out into the mission area, and I see a few sharks, one of them a little scarier looking than the others. I use the mounted gun to take out the regular sharks, then I use the bow to kill the rare shark. As soon as it dies, the body starts to sink in the water. So I dive in the water after it, and suddenly I realize that it's like 20 meters to the ocean floor, and I can't really hold my breath all that long. So I turned around and started swimming for the surface, and all of a sudden another shark comes out from beneath my boat and attacks me. I freaked out and quit to desktop almost as a reflex. So, I guess take that as you will.

FC3 is actually fun. I found AC3 to be very boring. The story and setting just didnt work for the AC universe.

FC3 if you like adventurous FPSes, it also lets you play both stealth and aggressive styles of fighting. I highly recommend it.

Annoying unlikable main character + crappy enviornment for AC gameplay really killed the game for me. Story was awful too.

IMO it's almost as bad as AC 1 which was so bad I don't even aknowledge its existence, even if it got gameplay improvements (they're made useless by half functional free running, Connor humps everything he should easily climb or jump over + severe orientation problems while free running, he grabs and does things you had no planned on doing) and graphics engine improvements it barely gets a small advantage over 1.

Since what matters the most in AC for me is the story and atmosphere a close 2nd, Rev>Brotherhood>AC2, only reason to list 3 after that would be if we'd consider multiplayer as part of the equation, it got a great overhaul, but I have no desire to ever play it after how bad the game itself was (won't even mention how much of a disaster its ending was, number 1 in history for the worst endings ever).

Really? i love that setting, the reason why i disliked all others AC's is cos that jerusalem and renaissance italy settings.. I was expecting fc3 to fail, looked to me like guard posts replaced by comunication towers, and jeeps coming out of nowhere with animals. Ppl seem to be loving it.

That's one thing I love about Far Cry 3. You do get some interesting player experiences. I remember the first time being on the river side and I see a man standing near the water in the distance. Right when I go up to him a crocodile pulls him in! OH !@#$%! How about the feeling of being hunted by an animal but you can only hear them at night? Or perhaps you're about to stealth kill two bandits in the jungle only to realize a tiger got a jump on your prey before you could even pull the trigger.

Cosign, AC3 >> the rest in the series for me.

AC has to be one of hte most overrated series ever, I did have atleast SOME fun with AC3 and Brotherhood though. Part 2 was not bad but AC1 and especially AC:R are horrible games.

I swear some people just don't like the fact that the main character is native american in AC3. I even saw on another videogame forum someone say "AC3 better be the last videogame to have a native as the main character. No one cares about natives, a white charater will always be more interesting then a native american character".

Such an inconsistent series, two horrible entrys (AC:R and AC1), while the rest are somewhat enjoyable.

It would be best if Ubisoft would continue to give us terrible sequels like Rev, which was the best game story wise and yes Indians are not good characters for games, I have no problem with them, but I couldn't care less about their history or their entire continent in history.

South America, now there's a place worth putting into games.

The Assassin's Creed series is made for 15 year old kids. Either you play that or you play COD. The first wasn't good, the second was worse, and the third is the worst of them all.

Far Cry 1 is superior to Far Cry 2 and 3 in everyway but graphics. FC3 graphics are not even good for 2012. I expected it to be at least Crysis 1 standards but it failed on all fronts. Far Cry 1 has superior gameplay. FC3 is dumbed down for kids.
