What kind of processor do you have, that will make or break your decision, even though both those game will have to take the "low" setting.

Its wierd because although FEAR apparently takes more to run the game actually runs better than COD2 imo, I have only tryed the demos but on my system FEAR ran better, weird:P

I've been able to play CoD 2 on a PC worse than your but shortly after I got it I upgraded and it looks good. I used to play it on: 1.4 GHZ Sempron 512mb RAM 9000 Radeon. The demo of FEAR didn't run too well on that PC though.

Call of Duty 2 is really good and will run nicely if you put it on DirectX 7 mode. You can get FEARs multiplayer for free so definately check that out :)

I played COD 2 , FEAR ( i changed DX 9  to DX 8 in the options menu) fine ( low - med settings) on my old FX 5200 , 2.4 Ghz P 4 , 1 g.b ram.

So , IMO ... U can play it , probably with low - med settings.

Dl both demos and see for urself.

cheer's ...

FEAR is the better game of the two in my opinion.  You should play both eventually but as I stated, FEAR is the better game.

F.E.A.R. is better but it's also more demanding. You need to upgrade your video card , RAM, and CPU.

Before I upgraded to a P4 (dula-core) 3.4, 2GB RAM, 2x7600 GT's in SLI, I owned and played both games. FEAR ran far smoother at Max settings than CoD2 on a Radeon 6800 (which I had to run on DirectX 7 settings to max out detail). FEAR appears to want more from your system on spec, but actually requires less than CoD2. 'course now I've upgraded "CoD2" is maxed out and it looks and plays sweeeeet. FEAR Combat is a free game, but the single-player campaign is well worth playing (much better than Q4 and PREY). Upgrade first though, or you'll weep at what you see in screenshots compared to what you see displayed.

Well you can always get the demos and see how well they run. I personally, if I could only buy one game would get F.E.A.R.. The single player is amazing and the multi-player is really fun.

Depends on if you are into Horror/Action or WWII shooters though. FEAR is an excellent experience ('specially at night with lights out and headphones on) but can get montonous and the puzzles are pretty simple. But the enemy AI is brilliant at trying tactics to flank you and at defending themselves. In "CoD2" played on Veteran level, you'll find the same ferocity shown by the enemy AI. They don't just sit there and wait for you to rush them...they'll rush you, throwing back your grenades and enjoying clubbing you to death with a disconcerting frequency. I enjoy both games, multiplay and single. They're both cheap now so buy both. Modders are set to release an expansion pack for CoD2 which, rumour has it, has been given the okay by Infinity Ward...but don't quote me.

I wouldn't buy any of them. If you are referring to the new Fear single player then I don't know but Fear multiplayer is free. COD2 is horrible as a multiplayer game but I neer played the single player on the PC but it was awesome on the 360.

Your computer will be able to run Call of Duty 2 on medium settings. Though, I can't even guarantee you if it will even run F.E.A.R.

I just looked on  the back on the FEAR case... and the 9600 IS supported. However it will only play on the lower graphics settings.
