Just bought the witcher platinum edition from ebay for £10 ($15.95). I have basically bought it to fill the void between now and nextyear when there are more rpg titles coming out. I know some people love it and some hate it but was wondering if anyone has any tips to make the game more enjoyable? Mods, a certain way to play the game etc. Any help would be great.

Take a good look at the skill trees. Making judicious choices will help keep Geralt alive.:P

Take the time to collect ingredients for potion making.

Once you reach the tavern you will never look at RPGs the same way again. It is AWESOME! Official Tavern King according to System Wars!

The Witcher is fine as it is. It doesn't need any Mods to be "good" on your first play through.

It may crash a few times, but you'll still finish it.

Buy all the books. Use the alchemy system. Oils are extremely useful against monsters, always chug a potion or two when you know there's combat ahead and the bombs are very nice tactical weapons. Dodge in combat, it looks awesome and it'll confuse the enemies.

And don't play it in isometric view.

Another vote in favor of alchemy. Your potions and bombs really make a difference. Take your time with the tutorial to get used to the combat system, once you have it down it's a blast. :)

Alchemy is only needed for larger battles in the game. Minor enemy's you will be facing do not need such treatment.

Alchemy makes all combat more fun.
